Some cars in GT6 must have more realistic handling than others. Which ones? What do you think?

Without descending into a bottomless argument about the MR cars, do you think there are types of cars that handle more realistically, less realistically? Or just certain models.

I'm not just looking for the point of view of those with real track day experience, I reckon anyone can have a feel for what's realistic and what isn't.

Well. I have only driven... Two cars that are in GT and I can't really say one way or another if they're realistic or not.
Three if you count a USDM EK Honda CIVIC but I imagine that a CTR handles much better than a USDM EK.

For least realistic handling cars, I'd have to say I'm not very convinced by the BMW M3 GT3 cars (the two new ones). They just handle way too easily - as if you have all aids turned on (even though you don't). On the other hand, I find the BMW Z4 GT3 much more convincing.

I find the Corvette C7 (recent one - 2013?) very convincing.

The thing is I may just be convinced by cars that are harder to handle.

This should be an interesting thread. Most people haven't driven supercars so those are out. Even those that have driven them probably did it at somewhere like exotics racing where they don't let you turn aids off and you have very little time with them. Most typical FF family cars handle about the same so those don't matter much either.

There are cars that have some realistic features, but you must search and use their true suspension settings, figure out wich tires they use, and so on. Keep in mind the stock lsd and suspension settings sucks... breaking is a little overdone , cornering speed is higher. But newer vw/audi are okay, civic type r ,evora, nsx and generally the lower powered cars do a better job than the extreme ones.cars that kaz owns/owned/liked are your best bets.
I drove around 100 in game cars, from mild to wild, many on racetracks and owned 7

That's my feeling, too. Some race cars seem to be glued to the ground. Their handling is just to good to be true. But in the end, it could be completly realistic. I never drove them in real life. A car that really suprised me lately was the Countach LP 400 (the older one). After driving the Countach 25th Anniversary Edition and other older MR cars, which are rather challenging, the easy handling of the LP400 felt odd. Therefore, all cars that are to easy to drive or to easy in comparison to similar cars feel less realistic.

Some cars are a peach to drive. Gtr, r8, s/rs audis, evo's and scoobys, and many others are cars that boost your confidence in them. And a good driver can extract 80-90% of the car potential from the get go.
Race cars are a diferent breed, and usually are tailored for the track/driver combo. Properly set up for you, you'd feel confortable(not in the rolls royce sense) to lap them forever.
And some cars are plain and simply horrible... Specially older cars. Mostly due to years/technologies/lessons learned that are applied today, making them feel obsolete.

MX5 (or Miata), just like the real thing. Pops over onto it's outside back wheel, has a little wriggle, straightens up, off it goes.

Also needs thorough abuse of the gearbox in twisty climbs. Good job, PD.

The only problem with the standard MX5s is that there's no internal condensation. That's a serious oversight by the modellers.

That thought had sprung to mind. I've tried to find out what cars Kaz'd know.

I found out:
  • he owns two Ford GTs
  • he's been given a Nissan GT-R, and a Golf R32
  • he drove that Schulze Motorsport Nissan GT-R N24 at the 24hr Nurburgring
  • his first car was a Toyota Celica XX (aka: Supra); his second car: Nissan GT-R R32
The Ford GTs (the nine-/ten-year-old ones) in GT6 do indeed handle quite convincingly. The others in the list - I'm not familiar enough with with them to have much of an opinion.

Does anyone else know more Kaz-driven cars?

I can only judge on the Golf IV GTI which I driven quite fast..: They seem similar, but the one in the game has softer suspension compared to the real one. I suppose its caused by the game's low gravity.

I've also been in an Audi R8 as a passenger, and lol, you just can't compare the noise. Have to say that GT sounds really realy poor in comparison.

First off I live about 40km away from Nürburgring so every now and then I go there to watch races and even take a spin my self. Last race I've been watching was The Blancpain 1000 km Race... I sat on Mercedes Tribune so I was able to see a lot of Action. I saw how nervous the GT3 cars must be under heavy breaking in to the first righthand hairpin. After that driving GT3 cars in gt6 seems exatly how I would have imagined. Furthermore being a visitor to the 24h Race every year since 2006 the cars behavior under different conditions seems to be perfect. The R8 LMS being fast in the dry, the GTR GT3 easiest (or fastest at least) in mixed condotions and the Z4 GT3 fastest in the wet (the Z4 is the only One with ESP - stability control IRL) These are my observations. And as the R8s handling is so much dicussed I'm fine with that one when driven constantly Right at the edge of it's limit (That's actually the only Way racecars are driveble). Only the busstop at spa is still a pain. So there you go: GT3 cars seem to be right.
Sadly none of the cars I've driven myself IRL are in the Game... So no comparisson there. But according to a friend of mine the Swift Sport is ... Not as fun to drive as it is IRL it behaves familiar but in the Game you won't feel the "quirkynes" (don't know if that's a word) you get IRL. In the game You just don't feel fast doing 180 km/h towards "schwedenkreuz"...

Kaz has also an evo vi(iirc), praises the new vette, he must love the lfa and s2000 (who doesn't?) nissan 370z(gt academy)
But one thing i believe is not dialed down, is how over 350-400hp rwd cars loose traction on demand by stabbing the throttle, m3, for example. If you nail it even in third and esp off, it can really throw its tail. Maybe this is just part of an assist that allows ds3 players to be smooth and not spin everytime

Kaz crashed the GTR, didn't he? Never found another like it... or so I recall. I think that was on an interview linked in the GTP news a few weeks ago?

I've driven MX5s on track in real life and GT and I can say that the MX5 with mild tuning (intake and racing hard suspension) is accurate from a physics point of view, but I would say that the power increases for the mods is a little out. Having said that my MX5 was 20 years old :D

The RX8 is also fairly accurate, although I've yet to take that onto a track. The power and speeds in the gears seems OK, perhaps a little faster than real life. Handling seems pretty good although the in-game one likes to step out a little more than my one. I had to put sports soft tyres on it to get accurate grip and I'm not running a soft compound tyre currently...

Personnely i love track day cars,

first off the good , I dont know how it would feel in real life but the little Suzuki GSX/R is great on cs or sh completely stock, and actually feels like a track day car.

Secondly the bad, the Caterham, ive done quite a few laps at Brands hatch irl in a Caterham and it was a handfull, so back end happy !!, the Caterham in GT6 is soooo dead, not even remotly close to the real thing.
