GT6 Cars won't steer

I just installed GT6 along with a massive amount of updates with a few errors messages and the steering wont work. Everything I have tried works but the steering. Has this happened to anyone else?

Strange, doesn't seem to be a common fault. Stupid question but are you definitely set as Controller 1? And do inputs work okay on other games?

I reloaded to updates and the DS3 works. The DFGT does not. I bought the DFGT 4 or 5 years ago and never used it so I got it out and hooked it up. I think there is something wrong with it. I did a little research on line and it seems some of them stop working in that time frame oddly enough whether they are being used or not.
