R18 TDI, Audi R10, Peugeot 908 HDU FAP, Jay Leno Chin Monster, Bimmer 120D, I think there's more tho.

All R8 race cars in game are described as Turbo Diesel.
Street versions have no description about it.
As far as I know in IRL the R8 have diesel versions.

Wait, the R8 LMP isn't even a diesel.
 
I was talking about R8 car and race car (1st picture). They're diesel for sure.
The car on second picture is a R8 Prototype and it has fuel options (IRL).
Your model is FSI (Fuel Stratified Injection)
Below is TDI (Turbo Diesel Injection)

PS.: In GT6 the R8 Prototype has no info about its fuel.

That's an R10. All R8 LMPs were petrol.

The R8 GT race cars and the R8 road cars are also all petrol.

I'm pretty sure R8 GT cars are described as Turbo Diesel V10 "in game"

On Wikipedia about R8 Prototype:
The R8 is powered by a 3.6 L Audi FSI V8. The R8 LMS GT3 cars are not diesels. They use the petrol V10 from the road car. 👍

Except for one showcar there is no diesel R8, neither race nor road car.

All of them are petrol. The game has it wrong.
 
I sit corrected :)

The early tanks used a gasoline engine and the later variants were switched over to diesel to reduce/prevent fire.

From wiki:

With its giant air horns, the Patton sounds like a diesel train. Actually, everybody thinks it is a diesel. One hot-rod magazine ran a photo of the car with a caption that read, "Diesel!" Believe me, it has a gasoline engine. Before we modified it, the car ran just fine on regular. Now, I fill it with premium, even though we're limiting the turbos to only 6 psi of boost. We're kicking around the idea of cranking up that boost to see if we can get another couple of hundred horsepower out of it.

No R8 in any form has run a diesel engine other than the concept one off that had a V12 diesel. The R10 and R18 run diesel engines, specifically a V12 and V6. The R15 ran a V10 diesel, but we don't have that car unfortunately. For some reason PD completely messed up the ingame descriptions for the R8 LMS and say it had a diesel when at no point has it ever run with one. There are no GT3 cars that run diesel engines either, not even sure if the rules would allow it.
 
I was corrected on it being an airplane engine instead of a tank engine. There have been a couple cars with the Rolls Royce Merlin engine.
