I'm very pleased each time we get a GT6 update but, man, what the heck are those sizes? 1 GB every time just for a handful of cars or less and an alternative layout of two tracks? And the 1.07 one was more than 1 GB aswell. Seriously????

What do we need to do if we have only 40 GB in our PS3??

(I dont feel like buying a larger HDD, not worth it)

I mean shouldnt the updates be smaller? Shouldn't the old files be replaced with the newer ones???

Maybe are those HD videos?? Do we really need to keep them on the HDD? Can't we remove them??

I've manually checked out the available space before and after the 1.08 update and... surprise!

Before update -> 3248 MB available
Update 1.08 -> 1476 MB -> should be 1792 MB available after installing it
After update -> 1591 MB available

So the update not only doesnt replace old files but de-compresses files and the used space gets even bigger... whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy :( OH GOD WHY... I'll need to remove completely the GT5 files (updates and saved replays)

i got 80 gb .... it's ok but i can't download a lot of games becaues i have gt5 and gt6, just one month ago i deleted gt5p ... so you can buy another hdd if u want (my friend buy 500 gb)

Hard drives are dirt cheap nowadays, it's not a huge investment, even SSD's have come down in price drastically…

Updates add new features so they are incremental. It's not a question of replacing old data as that is untouched. Also, surely you'd be replacing it with itself.

video files are big, so all the additional videos like for senna or GTV cars take a lot of space. Unlike in game cars/tracks

I have 500gig, didn't feel a thing..

Try upgrading your HDD too, it's easy..

This. I bought a 320GB 7200rpm, to replace my stock 250GB 5400rpm, and GT5 at the time was noticable faster to load, plus, 70GB extra space means I don't need to worry about keeping GT5 or GT6 data only, or backing it all up or anything like that.

Hmm, well, I checked out and HDD are really very very cheap. 35€ for a 500GB HDD is a bargain.

But musn't the hard disk be the 2'5 (slim) and 5400 RPM?

Also my PS3 model is the 3rd generation Fat, no clue which HDD models would accept.

They don't *have* to be 5400rpm, but you will only see very slight gains for going to a 7200rpm drive and probably notice a bit more noise. SSd's are much faster, have no noise but come with a much meatier price tag.

The same as all the other ps3's on the market... Maybe you should have just googled like two things before making a pointless thread?

Just curious, how does this work for people with the 12GB version? Requirements for PS3 games is having a PS3, not having a PS3 with minimum HD size? Games should run on whatever PS3 you have, right?

It is still a valid point. As with GT5 the more they add via updates the more sluggish the game gets. GT6 is 12GB now last I looked, that is far more data than any other game I have on my PS3. More than GT5 in fact, I'm sure that was only 9GB when I deleted it.

This is why it's still important for PD to get everything done and on disc, not sending it all via updates and certainly not great big HD videos. Those should be streamed. People should not be forced to download 500Mb of videos they don't want. Including 'Senna's Wish' in the latest update was silly, they should have just told people it was available on Youtube.

No... If you don't have the space or the game you can't play it.

If your hdd is too small get a bigger one... Sony literally couldn't have made it any easier to upgrade/swap the hdd on a ps3...

If you don't have the hdd space and refuse to do the cheap and easy hdd upgrade you should wait until they put out an academy edition of gt6 so you don't have to download all the patches and content and you can just stream it from the disc.
Though that would probably end up being more expensive and force you to wait a while if it ever comes out...

Requirements also list required disk space. GTA 5 lists 8.25 GB on the box, GT 6 box says 256 MB.

Well, with this logic... lets all google everything everytime, dont ever discuss anything on this forum unless its impossible to find it on google...

What are you discussing? Your upset because a new patch has helped fill your tiny hdd. That you don't want to buy a new hdd, have no idea what's involved or how much it costs?

I'm confused, this just seems like a pointless thread in which your openly crying about a non issue with no knowledge for information about how you might fix it, information that isn't a discussion away from resolution, it's a google search...

Non-issue? False, the big issue here is the ridiculous size of the patches, which contain ridiculous sized HD videos. PD should fix that! Wasted PS3 HDD space!
I think the videos are a great part of the game, and if I want to watch one of them more than once, why should I have to stream it again? Just buy a bigger hard drive, I bought a 1TB HDD for $90 almost 2 years ago, Seagate too.
