Just did my first Cup race at Daytona with my 2013 Kyle Busch car.

I own NASCAR Racing 2003 on PC and play the current 2013 car mods. In that game you cant go smacking off the wall countless times and stay with the pack, you cant beat the crap out of each other door to door and maintain top speed, you cant get turned, spin on the pavement on the back stretch of Daytona, and recover and stay up with the pack Cole Trickle style in a REAL NASCAR simulator. Why does Kaz even bother putting NASCAR in when he cant even come close to a 10 year old PC game?

What was funny though, after my first race was done and the first replay played, the game picked my personal track of "Gimme Some Lovin" on its own  It realized its own campyness and played the right music first try!

I haven't gotten to the NASCAR races in gt6 yet, but I completely agree. I love NASCAR and have followed it closely for awhile now and it pains me to see the series butchered in gt. Even the simplest things like reducing downforce and forcing restrictor plates at Daytona would make it much better (even though the issues go far deeper than that).

In career mode, the game forces you to reduce power to 70% at Daytona.
However, it also forces you to do the same at Motegi and Indy.

Well in the case of Daytona I guess thats better than gt5, even though it should be closer to 50%. Why Motegi and Indy though? For all the effort they put into accurately recreating positions of stars, I don't understand why they can't incorporate these simple little details.

Two things to remember:

1. No Console game is ever going to come close to NR2003, this kinda needs to be realized by everyone. Even the licensed games by Eutechnyx will not come close either so to expect it at all is at this point futile.

2. You're racing a 2013 car at an older Daytona, naturally that's not the best indicator of things right there.

As far as the restrictor plate thing is concerned, keep in mind that unlike the previous licensed titles, PD has modeled these cars Without restrictor plates so you manually have to reduce the power yourself.

The steering at Daytona is an absolute mess. It is an older surface but you'd still think the cars would turn easily. When was the last time someone had to brake or let off of the gas in a stock car at a 2.5 mile speedway?

Such is why they restrict them to 450 hp in real life.

Mmm... is there a thread for tips on how to do the GT6 Nascar events? Im having trouble with Willow Springs and High Speed Ring... :(

people are holding 225 going into the turn without breaking or lifting just keep tuning u will get it.

even NASCAR:The Game "inside line" is better then GT6 when it comes to NASCAR.

Theres such an imbalance with the A.I though, they push you alot easier into a spin out than you can to them.
Any gear ratios to recommend?
Or weight/ballast setting ajust? Camber ajustments? Im using a DS3 to do it.
REMEMBER This car is heavy
lol yeah I thought they'd throw advice like that at me before starting the events! lol.

I agree GT should just dump the entire NASCAR thing if they can't or won't try a little harder to make it right.. Same with rally. At least NASCAR is much better simulated than the embarrassingly bad snow and dirt rally physics.

Its not only Nascar. All the the other racing series feel bland and boring as well. Its GT6 after all.

Well that's true.

I think that PD sees the things like that :
- "rookies" with gamepad -> easy/stupid AI because they play offline
- "pro" users with steering wheel-> they play online with heavy dammage => no need for AI

I know it's sad :(

Yeah, weird that a game that is solely focused on everything NASCAR is better then a game that isn't solely focused on everything NASCAR.
