A few times now I have had GT6 freeze during launch at the epilepsy warning screen. When this happens I have no choice but to hit the PS button and quit the game. This is immediately followed by a beep and reboot from the console. After reboot I get a message saying the console did not shut down properly and needs to rebuild etc. etc.

Has anyone else noticed this with GT6 or is this perhaps a sign I need to start shopping for a new console? My existing console is a fairly old Fat model modded with an SSD.

Thanks for your input....

is this the PSN or disc version? I got a slim version, and GT6 tends to make the console reboot sometimes when I exit the game. My old fat one did start to freeze up before I got the YLOD though, are your PS3 usually placed in a well ventilated area?

I get this a lot on a lot of games for at least a year. Original fatty here and it can freeze mid game, online or offline, loading and leaving. Not sure the causebut haven't got a HD big enough to back up and reset (best option apparently)

Try and put in another game and see if the problem persists. If so, it's probably your hdd going out. You can always boot it up in safe mode and restore the system though if that's the case before you go blow $45 on a new harddrive.

Disc version for me. My PS3 is just sitting on a desk with a little space all around. I somehow doubt this is heat-related (in my case anyway) as just this morning it happened right after power up and just attempting to launch the game. I have on the other hand played the game for hours straight, giving the console plenty time to freak out over heat problems, but I had no issue. It strange that it happens at the same spot during launch though. That doesn't necessarily mean it is software but it seems like a big hint. Then again, perhaps the software is just accessing a particular piece of hardware at that moment and it is a lack of response from a potentially failing hardware component that is the culprit......

I got this for a while (not on the epilipsy screen, but throughout the game) and just three or four days ago I opened my PS3 up and cleaned it up a little bit with compressed air + vacuum and I haven't had it freeze on me since.
I have the 120gig slim btw

It could be the PS3. I have a two year old 160gb Slim and so far I haven't had any freezing or rebooting for the couple of days I've been playing GT6 (disc version). The only problem I've had with the game so far is that in one race, the sound of my car was gone.

I don't know if it's me, but I usually go very slow in the menu, letting everything load, and letting it save when it's doing so. Shouldn't be our problem, I know. PD should check the game's stability issues.

Same thing happens to me with GT6 disc The screen where you input your name at the very beginning, the game and PS3 freezes and says it has to do a check because it did not shut down properly. Im gonna try to lower the video settings to 720p and maybe a factory reset if I have to, and redownload update, if that doesnt work I might start saving up for a PS4 :(

Hey I changed the settings to 720p under display settings on the ps3 menu, was able to start playing normally then switche dit back to 1080p. have not had any porblems since!

When my PS3 (fat) began to start to struggle and freeze whilst loading/playing a mix of games - it was the beginning of the end for that particular console. Opening it up and getting rid of the dust will extend its lifetime somewhat - but only for so long.

I have the 250gb slim it doesn't get much hammer it's in a well vented area and I still can't get past the epilepsy screen this is the only game what does it I have tested a few and there fine I think it's a game problem not a console one this needs addressing ASAP I can't even play the god damn thing what a waste of £60

Try turning off the system for a bit. Let it cool down, Thats what I did for a separate freeze issue. 👍

My Fat 40 gig froze at the epilepsy warning screen once about a week ago when it was cold. It was also beeping 3 times and turning itself off and on again every time I closed the game by going to the PS3 menu screen. I tried going into the GT6 Options to clear the cache. That stopped the 3 beep game quit, but the menus were still slow. I kept clearing the cache and now the menu is so fast that in Free Run I have to let go of the button about 4 tracks before I want it to stop or the pointer will go too far.

This. Beeping is almost certainly the case of blue ray drive problem. You'll only be seeing this problem on disk versions. It starts with three beeps from time to time, then it gets gradually worse till drive fails completely.

Stomper. You may be having network problems. Disconnect net cable/disable wireless and try entering the game again.

I have the old "fat" ps3 & GT6 has been freezing up on me. Probably over 10 times. It freezes, shuts down, beeps & the red light flashes. Then I have to do the format check. Is GT6 really being rough on my ps3? What is that a sign of for my ps3 ?

It's probably a connection error that makes the ps3 freeze and because it didn't shut down properly it does a corruption check.

Welcome to the world of the horrible ps3 firmware. Mine sometimes shuts down when I'm bringing up the xmb and try to read a message.

I thought the ps4 would fix it but from what I hear about battlefield 4, it got worse.
