I don't drive with the racing line on. But I'd like to improve my technique so I'm wondering if turning on the racing line can help. And I'd particularly like to know if it's any good for showing late apexes, as shown here (in the second diagram):

First thing I do is turn it off.

It ruins the immersion. Plus it's only really to teach beginners the basic racing line.

Best thing you do if you want to be quick in the game, is to download the replays from the online leaderboards and load them as ghost replays.

I personally find the racing line a distraction. It also lies to you about when to brake and such.

Practise is the key to improvement, find a track you like and try and improve on every lap. You can feel when you've been faster in certain corners and beating your own ghost is always good.

Trying to beat, and watching others ghosts in TTs and licence tests are more helpful in my opinion. Doing this has put me in the top 3 of all my friends in most licence test and I know some of them are using a wheel and i'm using a pad.

Edit - Tree'd good and proper.

I usually have it on for the first week or two to just learn the new tracks.
aside from that I think it slows you down tbh. it's pretty good way to teach you the lines, but it doesn't give you the FASTEST line.. it gives you the SAFEST line.
