GT6 Save game question/problem

Ok so today I finally get fed up with the odd problems my PS3 has had (freezing, lockups, amazing slowness etc). I went out and bought a new PS3. I did the data backup utility on my old PS3, said it took about 6gb of data (sounds about right, 2 games worth).

I go to restore on the new system, it goes through but then GT6 gives me a msg along the lines of "you tried to load another players saved game data...overwriting with new data" and is basically starting over from scratch!

I also tried to use the "Game Save Utility" on the XMB on the old system, and it lets me back it up, however on the new system it only gives me the ability to restore from PS+ data locker...WTF?

Very very frustrated...can someone lend a old guy and GT vet a hand?

Thanks in advance.....

Put your save data (not game data) on a thumbdrive, should be a tiny file and nowhere near 6gb. Log your new ps3 onto PSN using the ID the save data was created with. Put thumbdrive into new PS3 and copy save data onto hard drive. Put GT6 disc in new PS3, load up game, and enjoy. 👍

EDIT -Got it now, thank you!

Right, I tried that (and that file is only ~118k) however it does not give me the option to save it onto the thumb drive. The only option it gives me is to use PSN Plus.

I know the thumb drive is good bc I was able to use it to restore the PS3 just earlier.

Really? I just hit triangle, copy, then select the thumb drive and it copies it there. I have multiple thumb drives, works on all of them.

Had the same problem. And I think the fault is the file system, on the thumb drive. It nead to be FAT32 and not NTFS. PS3 does not recognize NTFS thumb drive.
