GT6 wont load some tracks

As the title states GT6 wont load some tracks like Nurburgring (none of them including the GP circuit), High Speed Ring, Le Sarthe and some others I cant remember. I have not played this game for a long long time but I always updated it. So I decided to dust it off and have a go again.

For a while, before some tracks stopped loading and sticking at the flag screens I noticed a good bit of tracks loaded but partway through the race sections lose the graphics and you just see white for the road or just the blurry green hilly backgound with no track visible in sections or as in the case of the Nurburgring almost the entire circuit. I did the defrag and file rebuild functions and that did nothing to alleviate the partial loading of the track graphics.

This did however introduce a new problem. Many tracks wont load and just get stuck at the flag screens. So I did a reinstall. After the reinstall (ridiculous process) I noticed that many tracks wont load now and many race series are ruined because some of those tracks that wont load are part of the series. Also the tracks in question wont even load in Arcade mode. I reinstalled several times because I just have to beat this problem lol...None of the reinstalls worked.

So I changed the blu-ray drive and got a new HDD and did a fresh install. Still no good. I tried starting a new game from scratch and it wont even load the first race you can run with the Honda Fit at the High Speed Ring. So you cant even get to the other lThis is madness.

Hoping someone knows a fix for this because if not I am done with this permanently. I searched Youtube and the Net and it seems like I am the only one experiencing this. I cant stomach another install from scratch lol. Thanks in advance either way.

I had a the exact same problem with Nurburgring, green hills and no track. Eventually Mt. Panorama and Monza got stuck at the flag screens and finally wouldn't load at all.

You didn't say whether you had a disc or the digital version. I fixed my problem initially with a new disc, but that didn't last more than 6 months. In retrospect, I figure the problem was the update that had the Tomahawk VGT cars and my data being corrupted somehow since that seasonal at the 'Ring was when I first experienced the issue. My PS3 started getting the YLOD soon after so I replaced it.

Since you've done all you can with the console, how about a new disc? I'm sorry I don't have any feedback on this problem if you've got the digital version. As an aside, I don't know if youre aware, but I have read on GTP that if you have been using a disc, and get the digital version, all of the updates have to be done again.

Best of luck with this 👍

Thanks for your post Draggon. I have the 15th Anny disc. I cant even get back the 15th Anny cars or the paint codes etc since the reinstall lol.

Hmmmm on the new disc angle you mentioned. Never even thought of that since I thought the game was really downloaded as opposed to being on the disc. I will try that which probably means another reinstall ugh....

I'd try the disc first. I did that because $14.99 on the disc was the easiest option  If it still doesn't work then do another reinstall but do the "one update at a time" method. I haven't read anywhere that loads of people were having trouble with any specific update.

If you saved your game to a USB or PS+ before your first reinstall you will keep all the anniversary items. 👍

I'm pretty sure you have to reactivate the anniversary cars if you reinstall game data. They'll have an exclamation mark next to them until you do. If you look in your purchase history, you'll see the anniversary cars can be re-downloaded for the account you used when you first installed GT6. It has to be that initial account as that was the account that first put the codes in. Any other account on your console gets access to them after that.

As for the track loading problem, I've had that a few times but a reinstall of the game data always gets it back. A proper pain in the arse but I'm lucky in that updates can be left to install unattended. I think it's the exception rather than the rule with updates acting up so you'll likely be ok.

Thanks guys. I did do the updates one at a time. Several times lol hence my apprehension at doing it again. I kinda have to see this through so a disc will be bought for cheap of course hehe.

Kilesa4568 I did save my saved game to a USB but it still has the exclamation marks next to the Anny cars and the paints that were a DL item. Oh well i only opened one PSN account so not sure why my purchase history shows nothing. Will try again after the disc. Not really caring about the Anny cars as I never drove them anyway but I hate seeing the exclamation mark hehe.

OCD kicks in when I see that exclamation mark and I have to have them back, even if I generally don't bother with them. It looks so untidy!

I'll double check when I can get to the console but it's either purchase history or transaction management where you'll find the downloads. I'll let you know as soon as my missus stops hogging the TV...

Double checked and they were in transaction history/download list.

Plus 1 on the OCD lol. Thanks K. I'll check soon as I get a chance.

I don't think updates would really cause this sort of thing, I'd recommend checking your disk to make sure it doesn't have scratches or anything.

Good luck.
