GT7 and Fanatec setup, settings and compatibility issues?

Just built a new rig and setup with the Podium F1 DD Racing Wheel (for PS4/5) and V3 pedal set. Can't seem to get any real feeling out of this setup. I'm using the Porsche GT3 wheel (which is great). But, trying to get thru tight corners at any reasonable speed is virtually impossible. No feeling and no grip resulting in pushing the front wide if I get the speed even slightly wrong.

As for the V3 pedal set... just can't stop and car in any decent distance. I see people on YouTube with same DD1 and Porsche wheel being able to brake so much later than I have to. Also, the throttle actuation seems to be pretty crap too, to the point where it's virtually impossible, unless I slow right down, to get out of corners with TC turned off.

I've done the various calibrations twice now and no real difference. Calibration of the throttle from min to max when calibrating has no relevance to what happens in GT7/PS5... partial throttle goes straight to max! AAAAAAAAAHHHHH

Perhaps its a combination of the DD unit settings and the Assist and/or Controller settings on GT7?

Anyway, if anyone can please point me in the right direction to help solve these issues.., Please do so. I would be most grateful :-)

Have you tried the Fanatec recommended settings for your wheel?
https://forum.fanatec.com/discussion/25219/gran-turismo-7-ps4-ps5-fanatec-recommended-settings

Use those as a starting point and then increase one by one to feel the difference (I find the recommended settings too numb for my liking).
As for the pedals, you can also adjust the brake stiffness and travel - maybe that would help?

The throttle position thing seems like a potential problem - do I understand correctly that even a tiny input registers as 100% throttle in the game? If so, does it work fine in other games and on PC?

Thanks for the info/suggestions. I have tried the recommended setting from Fanatec with the same result as you probably found. Last night I did managed to make more progress with minor adjustments - one by one (very tedious, but the only way).

The brake problem is more to do with effectiveness rather than feel or travel which is fine (I have the performance kit). The brakes just will not pull up/slow down quick enough compared to others.

The throttle, despite doing the calibration a few times, is a real problem... by 20-25% of travel the throttle is at 100% so moderating it coming out of corners is a real challenge :-)

Haven't gone the PC route yet (all my tech stuff is Mac) due to ridiculous price of video cards here which makes the whole exercise pointless right now. A couple of friends are visiting early next year from overseas so will get one then, assuming prices keep dropping back to normality.

Fanatec has a calibration program but it is only available on PC. I also run a Mac but use Parallels to emulate Windows. I have the same set and it took me a couple of days to adjust the pedals and calibrate them. Out of the box they were only giving me 75% of braking power before calibration, so that calibration app is essential to using the V3 pedals.

The performance kit is a great addition to the brakes, but I’d also recommend getting the damper for the accelerator. It makes a huge difference for modulating the throttle. I also shortened the throw on the accelerator pedal so I didn’t have to reach so far for full throttle.

After you’ve gotten everything calibrated correctly, THEN I had to go into the GT7 controller settings and make sure that everything was calibrated there as well. At first I didn’t bother and then discovered I was running my races with 20% brake on all the time! So adjusting those dead zones, etc., will help dramatically.

As for the FFB, I gave up on that. They keep changing it with the updates, so I’m waiting for a more stable update before I try fine tuning the FFB.

Good luck!!!

Sorry, should have said that I do have a basic Lenovo laptop running Windows 10 which I use for my motorcycle ECUs so yes I have done the calibration. All seems well until I get into GT7 and then something seems to go a miss. First thing I did when I got the kit was make sure all drivers and firmware were up to date. Suppose I will just need to do and check everything again.

I have the brake performance kit and damper which I am using on the throttle. What I will do is shorten the throttle - thanks, good tip.

Not sure about calibrating the Controller settings but will investigate on line and do - thank you.

If you go to that menu in the very top Left of GT7 there is a settings item. The second tab of that menu item is controller settings, but I think one of the tabs is a calibration tab for in-game response. Sorry, I’m at work now so can’t check, but it’s in that vicinity. It should t be too hard to find. Trust me when I say that you need to do that second calibration through GT7’s own tool. It made a world of difference for me. I went from totally regretting my purchase to absolutely loving it once the game inputs were corrected.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info and yes I did find the right place in Options.. Controllers.. Steering Controller Setting. Did all pedals and now I actually have control over my throttle - at last. Thanks for all you help. Really appreciate it. Now I'm going racing ;-)

Don't forget to do this every time you adjust you pedals! I'm still dialing mine in and every time I have to do the Fanatec calibration and then the GT7 calibration. But it's become second nature now. I also have a new aluminum rig coming this week so I'm sure I'll be recalibrating everything all over again! But so worth it (I hope)!

By the way, are you actually in South Africa? I'm planning a trip there to visit an old friend for Christmas. I'll be in Mossel Bay. Any suggestions of what a visiting American should see?
