Ok audiracing, since you're new here, I'll just assume you're merely ignorant of the facts.
First, lets establish what exactly a cheat is...
Ok, according to dictionary.com, the most accurate definition in relation to gaming is this:
"To violate rules deliberately, as in a game: was accused of cheating at cards."
However, if you want to get all anal and nitpicky about it, I see no set of rules you must follow for GT2. Maybe you got a copy of The Rules of Gran Turismo 2 with yours? I dunno. That has nothing to do with my point anyway.
So, since there are no rules in GT2, how can someone break them? The answer is simple, they can't.
Ok, so now that we know there are no official rules, let's try another direction. I guess you could say that it is morally wrong to use a "cheat" to get a car in GT2. I would agree with you on that one in most cases, with the key word being "most"...
However, in a few cases, such as the one this whole thread started about, I feel that it would be totally justified. I know I sure don't want to run the same race over and over again off and on for weeks just to get the same relatively crappy car every time. Once is enough for me, believe me; especially since anyone with any decent amount of skill and a nice car can win an endurance race, you pretty much just have to be able to sit still for two hours.
And besides, there are many different ways you can get a car without winning it legitimately in GT2.
1) Shark it into your garage. Not nearly as easy as it sounds. You would have to enter LOTS of lines of code to get a car into your garage by shark alone. I mean L O T S of codes. And then it still wouldn't be the real thing, since as far as I know, there is no place on the internet where you can find every code for a stock GT90, or any car for that matter. So, you would most likely end up wasting an hour typing in codes that may or may not be correct, all to end up with a GT90 that has 100 hp and won't drive straight.
2) Shark it so you win that car only after you win a race. Yes, you can do this. Though I'd say this is the most cheat-ish way to do it...
3) My personal favorite, shark it into the car dealership. Yes, you can make it so you can buy yourself a brand new GT90. Of course, it'll cost you 2,000,000 or however much the thing costs, so this method won't be very good for people who are low on cash atm. However, I feel this one is the most morally acceptable of the three.
There are also codes for Body Mods (see the section on my site), and tons of other things of a non-cheat nature. Besides, how else are you gonna get things like the Lambo and Porsche in GT3 without a gameshark? You can say just get a save from the internet somewhere, but guess what? That's been sharked too.
However, it's when the codes are abused that I have a problem with. People who use them as shortcuts because they're too lazy or unskilled to actually do the work seem kinda pathetic to me. :/
I do make exceptions for people who just don't have the time to play "correctly", however, since I know exactly what they're going through, what with college and a job. Free time is hard to come by, especially if you have a social life too.
And besides, the GT90 friggin rules, it's one of my favorite cars in the game
