I was wondering if the US (NTSC) get those light blue cop cars for GTA 3? Or whether this was just on the BETA version?

If anyone has the blue cop car, can you do the following:
  • Go into your GTA III directory.
  • Go into "Models".
  • Open up txd.img with a TXD tool.
  • Go down to "police.txd" and extract all of tha somewhere.
  • Then please send this file to matthewjlcoleman@gmail.com
I've wanted the blue cop car for a while, and you can't simply change the info in carcols.dat because the black (or blue as it may be) is a skin.

It's the same on the Enforcer... But I'm sure the yanks get the same old black one we got...I was looking through the police.txd file and I'm not sure which part to change from black to blue.... Also if someone has the American PC version could send me there default.ide file. You can find that in "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTAIII\data\default.ide". Please send that to haswell00@gmail.com if you have the US version of GTA3 on PC, thatnks.
 
Just an update. The reason why the blue Police Car wasn't included, was that Rockstar thought it would be foolish to do so, so soon after 9/11. The real Police Car colour in New York is Blue and White, and they wished to respect the NYPD, so they changed the colour.

I don't know what the story was with the White Vice City Police Car. It was changed to the green Police Car you all know. Maybe they realised it was ugly...

Anyway, anyone that would like to send us the above files, please do so. Also, send each of them to both matthewjlcoleman@gmail.com and haswell00@gmail.com ... Thanks.

That's easy. I can actually do it, I'm just way too lazy to do 2 certain textures in the police.txd file, because it involves different shades of that blue, and I don't want to figure that out. Maybe one day when I'm really[/b] bored.


But please, can someone in the U.S. send their default.ide file (in "Data" in the GTA III directory) to matthewjlcoleman@gmail.com and haswell00@gmail.com ... we're testing some things, and we would appreciate it alot. Thanks.
 
It has about 8 different sections in it that are just black, so I'm not sure which to change to blue....
 
It would be nice for those files above, if anyone would like to. First 4 posts emphasise what Blake and I would like.
