GTA V is not San Andreas, but old characters may return

That article means nothing. It's the same as the people on the GTA forums "confirming" that there aren't other cities in GTA5. It's all speculation. None of us know for sure what to expect.

Wasn't this already confirmed back when the first trailer was released? It is in San Andreas but like Liberty City from GTA III to GTA IV, it is redone.

So far we have seen a remodeled Los Santos which is in San Andreas state. It's not clear whether any of the other cities from San Andreas will return or whether any new cities will debut. Maybe there is more than one city, maybe there isn't. The press releases were worded very carefully, but some people insist on "confirming" what they couldn't possibly confirm.

Usually different universes don't have any common characters.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't love seeing good ol' CJ and Sweet again, though.

They are hiding something because Dan Houser said he can't say anymore than what was in the trailer and the fact that it's "very big", which meant he wanted to.

After Dan Houser's comments, I'm inclined to believe that there are other cities, but we'll never know for sure until they tell us.

They could just be chucking in Red & Flint County. Which I would approve of!

Hope there are cross-references to GTA IV. That's what I love about the GTA series, the way it all interlocks. Espeically with the Impossible Trinity.

Personally I thought GTA IV was a let down. It just doesn't feel like a GTA to me. I mean yes it was good but I think they should have just stopped making GTA after GTA III's era. Those games were near perfect with some graphical imperfections.

But, there really was no reason to stop there. The new consoles were out & allowed Rockstar to start really implementing little details as well as bringing the series into another graphical step forward as GTA III was.

That being said, they will undoubtedly keep this series alive for many years to come. They have an amazing writing staff to put the Houser brothers' thoughts onto paper, as well as the marketing know how to build major hype for these games. We're looking at a title that could very well be COD-status as more info gets released.

Most people I know would rather play a GTA III era GTA game over IV. Perhaps my thoughts may change if V is good enough.

And that changes what exactly about the commercial success that was GTA IV? It was the 11th most played game on Xbox Live last year.

I didn't say GTA IV wasn't a success, because anyone could see it was. I'm just saying, for map size and things to do, III's era wins over many people. However IV's story did standout.

Have you played TBOGT or TLAD at all? Both of those games remind me more of the wackiness of GTA III era. GTA IV seems more "grown up" compared to GTA III era.

Yup. They do a bit but still isn't the same.
