GTA4 Trophy Patch - Breathing New Life Into the Unloved?

Well, it has for me... :D

Since the patch came out, I've restarted the game from scratch and thrown myself at it in an attempt to get the Liberty City Minute trophy (complete the game's storyline in under 30 hours - Gold trophy). And as of about 15 minutes ago, I managed precisely that - albeit somewhat under the time limit in 14h36'23s (I'm quite proud of that).

I now have every intention of going back and completing the game to 100%, which is something I never actually got round to doing in the first place - precisely because it was an awful lot of effort (200 pigeons? Expletive deleted off!) for no reward. Been there (San Andreas), done that, got the boredom.


But now there is a reward... A 30x30 pixel trophy! So... who amongst you is as shallow as me? Have you found yourself dedicating yourself back to GTA4 now that there's a tangible intangible prize for doing so?
 
I tried to today after finding out about the trophies today, but I think I have decided to take the game and get something worth playing. LOL oh well.
 
Here is to all you getway driv..... I mean.. GTAers that got 100% already but missed out on the 30x30 trophy image :D


Sad thing is I started a new game and got quite a lot into the game a week before the trophy came along, I am thinking about starting again for the silly trophies but not yet.
 
Are the trophies the same as the Xbox 360 Achievements? One of them is called "Liberty City Minute" and it's the same challenge.
 
They're identical as far as I can tell.
 
I think I'm in the 20s, but I'm buggered if I can do the "Finish Him" one.

I've created a GTP GTA Group here, so we can plan some online events (to, amongst other things, allow us to rattle through the online Trophies).

I like the Idea.
Use GTP tags? It will make us look good with GTP, GTP and GTP

Team GTP deathmatch V.S some other clan lol
 
I've only played GTAIV once since trophies appeared and it does seem like it'd give me more incentive to play through the game a bit more, but coincidentally it's come at the same time as me having less time than ever to be able to play any PS3 or PS2 game...

Which one is Finish Him?

I'll do all those things apart from being on at 9pm tonight, as that's when I finish work, and then I have to hastily pop into town to join a night out! :D
 
You have to perform 10 melee counter-attacks in 4 minutes. It's staggeringly difficult to do it without dying, not least because the counter-attack is quite tough, but you also have to find willing opponents, not get beaten up by them and not be shot until you die from it by the cops.

I did it in the alleyway south of the health pickup/warehouse (Escuela of the Streets) in Bohan. My technique for countering is to hammer the X button as quickly as I can then, when Niko ducks, hitting circle repeatedly until he roundhouses them. Repeat (you can get 2 counters per opponent if you're lucky) until the "sping" sound.

Can I join in? To get online on GTA4 I need to go to the internet café's don't I?

Never been online in GTA before....

I believe you use the mobile to get online, but have no idea after that.

How big is the patch? I'll need to get that first.

No doubt you'll make each bullet last for about 3 hours.

I've found out how to do multiplayer.

Patch took me about 20-25 minutes iirc, Daan.

Yep - Up for the mobile, navigate down to multiplayer and then, theoretically, to "Invites (1)" :D
 
Is there a thread for this mass multiplayer? I can see the mulitplayer thread in this forum, but it doesn't seem to mention anything about tonight.
 
GMT. Which means you've missed it by about... just under 13 hours :D

Go to "Groups and Clubs" near the top of the forum index page, click on "GTP GTA" and add yourself.
 
Hmmm, haven't used my ps3 in about a month. Gonna donwload the new page, add my self to the GTP GTA Clan and get some trophies i guess :)
