Just in case people are having problems getting the game to work , here is my workaround

This is for the retail 7 CD version

follow the instructions to install all 7 CD's , be prepared it takes ages almost a hour actually on my PC .

After you've done that it's time to go online add your key and sign into your Rockstar Social Club Account .

Then the game will download the updates ( if your lucky , mine did the same update upon update upon update ) , after 12 hours of this crap it was time to search the www to find a soloution .

first up I found a link to download the 340+mb update and installed that manually .

The game started up...............yippie..............then I got the dreaded "zlib call pleast reboot or reinstall the game" ...............yer like all 60.4GB...!!!???

Nope did some more checking , finally found out about "checksums" it seems one of my files was corrupted but which one ?

So after downloading Md5checker I took a look at each one of the files in the main rockstar folder , the correct ones should look like this

x64a.rpf - 683610e269ba60c5fcc7a9f6d1a8bfd5
x64b.rpf - 70af24cd4fe2c8ee58edb902f018a558

x64w.rpf - 46a4abe50bfc78c30c0173d888cf2c4a

Don't worry if the letters are in Caps in the checksums it's still ok

In my case the x64b.rpf file was corrupt , so i simply deleted it , restarted the Rockstar Launcher and it automaticaly downloaded the correct file from the server .

Game is now running fine..............finally

The other problem people are having is the game crashes coz windows automaticaly stops the game when more than 80% of the RAM is beign used . heres another workaround to try

GTA V – Memory Leak Issue
Players have reported a memory leak while playing Grand Theft Auto V. A possible temporary fix is setting the virtual memory to be managed automatically by the operating system as instructed below.

  1. Open System by clicking the Startbutton, right-clicking Computer, and then clicking Properties.
  2. In the left pane, click Advanced System Settings. If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
  4. Click the Advanced tab, and then, under Virtual memory, click Change.
  5. Clear the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives check box.
  6. Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that your Operating System is installed on and click the radio button System managed size, click Set, OK, OKand OK You may need to restart.
