Never saw it in the arcade, but it looks kind of fun. Hopefully it will be cheap.

So despite the name this isn't just about racing VW Golf GTIs? I saw at least a Renault and Mini in the screen shots as well. Looks like a European sports hatch racer. If it is done well it could be my kind of game.

My fear was that it would be like that horrible Yaris game they had on XBLA. As much as I love my V-Dub I would have a hard time putting money into a game to race just older GTIs around a track.

After Toy Home and Pixel Junk Racers have succeeded in disappointing they really need a demo to get my money.

I remember this game, it was in the arcades in the late 90's. Pretty fun in bursts from what I can remember and no it's not just about VW GTi's, it's about Euro hot hatches in general.

* player online customizable cars street racing.....I'm there, I do remeber the arcade version and it was prety good fun, thing midtown madness with less madness and more racing LOL

GTI Club is a racing game released for the arcade in 1996 by Konami. It runs on PowerPC-based hardware. The game's graphics were very good for the time. In the game, the player could choose from 4 rally cars, including a Mini Cooper and Renault 5 Turbo, and race in Cote D'Azur. The game allowed free-roaming of the environment, which was revolutionary for the time, and contained several semi-hidden shortcuts that could be used to reduce lap times. A handbrake is provided which the player is encouraged to use to perform handbrake turns round sharp corners

GTI Club+, an enhanced remake of the original game, has been announced for the Playstation Network and is being developed by Sumo Digital and published by Konami. The game will feature a number of improvements over the original game including enhanced graphics and sound, eight player online multiplayer, additional cars, new modes, and compatibility with the Playstation Eye.

The Yellow Bugatti EB110SS, which is unlocked when player adds an extra credit into the coin slot, was similar to and the same colour as a car owned at the time by Michael Schumacher. Schumacher has since sold the car.

Plenty of info to mull over there !

I got the trailer from the PSN the other day and it looks fun.

Might be worth it just for the yellow Bugatti, but they dont state if its in, just how it was included in the original! :dunce: So its free roaming through Monaco right, not just the F1 circuit?

Bet its going to be royally expensive! like £9.99 or something! Considering 2D stuff costs a Fiver.

Funny, I was playing this on an arcade machine about 4 months ago. In the arcade version, there was only the one Monaco track. It got pretty repetitive, even for an Arcade game. I noticed a mention of car customization, if so, I reckon it's just gonna be colours and graphics and the like. If they really want this to shift, they need:

- More cars than the arcade original, gotta be at least 10 new ones. 4 cars just isn't anywhere near enough for a next-gen console. Even though it is an Arcade port. Cars should be Euro hatches (Although they probably will be anyway). I'd love to see:
- Renault Clio Williams
- Peugeot 205 GTi
- Peugeot 106 Rallye
- VW Golf GTi
- Suzuki Swift GTi
- Citroen Saxo VTR
- Seat Ibiza GTi
- Citroen AX GT
- Fiat Abarth 695
- Fiat Cinquecento Sporting
- MG Maestro Turbo

- Also, more European cities featured as tracks. These ones would be nice:
- London, England
- Rome, Italy
- Paris, France
- Madrid, Spain
- Berlin, Deutschland (Germany)
- Birmingham, England [/Hometown Pride]. But seriously, would be a nice introduction to street racing games.

Expect it to be £4-£6 and nothing other than an improved version of the arcade game, you may see a new car or 2 but I doubt it, 8 player online and at the usual PSN price should see it sell like hotcakes.

Its funny ive never heard or seen it anywhere and ive been to quite a few arcades.... Watched the trailer and I think I need more convincing.

I wish they had arcade game where one of you drives and shoots and the other shoots along a highway with boss battles etc.... I would buy that right away although it would be hard to play on your own! Cant for the life of me remember what it was called, was around in the mid 90's.

Spy Hunter?

Nah, it was an arcade game where you sit in a cockpit with a passenger and you each have a light gun... the screen shows the view from the cars windscreen and you drive shooting all sorts of stuff coming towards along a road.... you will have like limos with guys shooting out windows etc.... and then you come to boss vehicles where you have to shoot it for ages till it blows up...

Was ages ago I played it, like in 1996 or something! Im still searching for what it was called because it was mega fun.

EDIT - Found It! Namco's Lucky and Wild... amazing arcade game!

I can dream though.

I can't believe there isn't a racing game based purely on real hot hatches, not Vauxhall Nova's with "one-off" spoilers.

The Fiat Abarth 695? Awesome, makes sense now. What with the Mini Cooper and the other Autobianchi Abarth.

Btw, where'd you get your info from?
