DeepForestTrackMap.jpg

Pre-Season Test Round
Track: Deep Forest Raceway - 2.24 Miles (3.61km)
Deadline: January 12th 5pm CST
Deep Forest plays host to the test session for The Mazda Cup Spec Racing Series. Two and a quarter miles of twisting, undulating road set deep woods, drivers are greeted with tunnels, hairpins, and high-speed straightaways. Smoothness of style and keeping momentum will be keys to this quick little course.

Rules and Regulations
All rules, car specifications, race procedures and regulations are controlled by GTMSA. All questions should be directed to me (ICallShotgun) and answers will (hopefully) be given in a timely manner.

Lap-time discussion rules are as follows. It is the decision of GTMSA that single fast-lap times can be discussed provided full lap-times are not disclosed. Anything up to tenths of a second are allowed.
Example: "My fast lap was a 1:22.4xx" or "my out-lap was terrible at 1:45.8xx." Please adhere to these rules and everyone can benefit.

Standard OLR Rules apply
No cheats, hybrids, or anything untoward.
Use only the cars in the correct specifications as stated by GTMSA.
These races are long, roughly 50 miles, and small incidents will occur. These are racing incidents (most of the time) and allowed by GTMSA. Anything that happens that is beyond the scope of this rule will be subject to a pass-thru pit penalty.

Qualifying (2-Lap Race)
Qualifying will take place in GTMode-->Original Courses-->Deep Forest-->Family Cup
AI setting will be Greater than 7 for all classes.
All settings are free within the given equipment.

Race (10 Laps)
Race will take place in GTMode-->Original Courses-->Deep Forest-->Track Meet
All settings are free within the given equipment.
Times can be retrieved after completing lap 10. Exit the race, select "Save Replay" and the total lap-time will be displayed in the blue rectangle at the top of the screen.

Ok I will get started tomorrow with testing. Should be a fun track with these cars:tup:.

Edit:
You could have cut the top of the picture off if you wanted.

please help me out here. i'm considering joining this good mazda thing but how can there be a pre-season test round closing at jan 19th if the actual series starts at jan 10th???
and why is ai involved in test rounds if not in the series itself?
call me stupid but also clear this up to me please.
thanks!

Ran my first times around the track in both MX5 and RX7, and WOW, these cars are fun. I did the initial testing just to check them out, but nothing like the hard-running punishment I put them through. After dialing out the huge oversteer in the MX5, I cut 9 seconds off between the 1st and 2nd runs...ending up with a fast-lap of 1:24.xxx. That car, once you figure out how to keep the back end in the back, is FUN.

The RX7 needs some more tuning, but ended up with a 1:17.xxx so far. Little throttle-understeer to get out but it's a good little car too. little different than my Prototypes in LMS :)

This should be a fun little season

My test is tomorrow! :dopey: Talk to you all later! :)ok coolness, I'm going to re-run this test because I think I could go faster!! Anyone have some simple tips on setup on the MX-5? ;) --- Randy

Got my time's for the MX-5 today, and I have to say this series is going to be fun:D.
Here are my time's for the Qualifying with the MX-5.

Sorry:(.

And I did drive the RX-7 today as well, need to tune the car a little more but still a fun ride:).
I will send in my time's tomorrow.

James

I'm sorry about that:(, maybe I just won't post my time's again so I don't do that again. Well it's still a fun series:).

Not touched this yet, still getting my head together after being ill.

Watch your rear-views guys, Mazda lover coming through in the very near future!

Neil

Ok I will try this again:nervous:.

Fastest lap in race-

for MX-5-
1:24:1xx

for RX-7-
1:16:4xx

These are the fastest laps I had in the race.
Time's will be sent after this post.

No time to do this pre-season run.

Unfortunately, RL intervenes.

Good luck all, I will be doing the actual series tho.

Thats alright Neil, I have to extend the deadline. With all the other stuff I got going on, on top of the deadline snafu to begin with, I'm putting it out till Friday 5p CST. Check the top of the thread for details.

Didn't get as much time in as I had hoped, since I had to drive from Detroit to Phoenix for work for the rest of the Winter, & the revised deadline caught me by surprise after work today. Fastest race laps:
MX-5 1'27.8xx
RX-7 1'19.2xx

Managed a 1'18.3xx on a GSX-R600 race bike for a Tourist Trophy Supersport race here last week before I left home. :sly:

I failed to notice the post directly above mine, until the one directly below it appeared. :dunce: Now instead of submitting a couple minutes late, I was a couple days early. :sly: Thanks for the extension! 👍 I'll try to give it another go once I get settled in out here.

Thanks Chris, thought the deadline was a little tight but was willing to go with the flow.

Two days should be ample!

Neil

Well!

Managed to get these laps from both cars.

MX5 1'25.1xx
RX7 1'16.6xx

Only done a quick setup, and minor suspension tuning may occur tomorrow(If I have time). Only ran the family cup races once each, and the 10 lapper's twice. But both 10 lapper's were consistant.

Neil

Question: Were we running by "keep 2 wheels inside the rumble strip" or by "any paved surface is legal" rules?

I kept it inside the 'rumble strips' for my one attempt....:sly:

Real fun race though....

Okay,.....I'll play around with it awhile until I get up to speed running like that, just for fun.

Nice fun race nevertheless.👍
