Triple R Trophy #1 - Information & Driver Briefing
(all participants are required to read and understand the rules of this incarnation of Triple R)
The inaugural running of the Triple R Trophy will be a One Hour Endurance event held at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. Following a vote from the registered GTTCC drivers, Season 2 cars will be used. The race is set to be held on Wednesday 12th November 2014. Any driver who is competing and has not done so yet is required to add NinjitsuEvolved as a friend on PSN in order to easily locate the lobby. The timetable for the evening is as follows and all times are GMT:
18:30 - Lobby opens (Very High race quality, no voice chat)
19:00 - Qualifying (15 minutes) begins
19:15 - Race (1 hour) begins
The time set for the track at the start of Qualifying and the Race is 16:30, and during the 1 hour race a complete 24 hour day/night cycle will take place, giving the illusion of the race taking place over 24 hours. Qualifying, given the lobby time and progression, is a near 50:50 split between day and night. Drivers are given a position in the lobby on a first come, first served basis so being prompt may become a priority given the number of currently registered drivers.
If any drivers are late to arrive and Qualifying is already under way, they may at the hosts discretion be allowed to take the start. This will be signalled by the host entering RED FLAG on the chat while on the grid. If a RED FLAG is thrown all drivers are required to quit the race and return to the lobby. Any driver failing to do so within 60 seconds will be kicked from the race.
Following a RED FLAG the host will give drivers their starting positions based on qualifying times and drivers will be required to form a line in their specified position. Late entries will be then be allocated positions at the tail end of the field. If there is more than one late entry then their grid positions will be determined by their pit box number. The driver closest to the end of the pitlane will be placed at the front of the late entries.
Drivers are reminded that this is an endurance race and that it cannot be won on the opening lap. All drivers are asked to try to keep the start as clean as possible. Any reckless driving into La Source off of the start will not be tolerated and penalties may be applied post race. All drivers are also reminded that they may find themselves approaching cars travelling with a much slower speed, be this either because the driver is naturally off of the pace or because they are running a different pit stop strategy. Any drivers who are going a lap down are requested to find a safe place to move away from the racing line and slow to allow the lead lap cars within their vicinity to pass. I trust that you can all use your own judgement to determine when this is necessary.
Finally, I just want to remind everyone that we are all here to have fun and hopefully we can make this Triple R Trophy a highlight of pre-season preparations in future seasons to come.
Thank you for reading.
EDIT: Due to concerns that have arisen regarding Eau Rouge, all drivers are reminded that should you cut this corner, standard procedures apply, where you should lift off in order to not gain an advantage. Remember, the edges of the rumble strips are the track limits and if you go beyond these then please lift off. Any occasions where you believe that these procedures have not been properly followed should be brought to the attention of the host post-race for review.
These are instances where a driver is completely to the left hand side of the rumble strip at the top of Eau Rouge using nothing but the tarmac run-off area and then fails to show they have lifted or handed back any positions which may have been gained.
