Whilst it was an "icon" (if you want to call it that) as a black cab in London and indeed throughout the UK, there's no getting away from the fact it's horrendously uncool, something all black cabs care IMO.

Also funny how comically under-powered it was, regardless of the engines it had, coupled with it being heavy, never mixes well either. Also kind of funny that it lasted for so long, considering how outdated it was when it was finally phased out.

Either way, Super Uncool.

Meh, because I kinda like London Taxis...

They look pretty decent, than American taxis.

As someone who lives in the United States, not too far from New York City, I give this car a Cool. Over here, taxis are lifeless, boring vehicles (almost entirely Prii and Camry Hybrids). While the English taxis aren't fast or spectacular, they do have some character to them and would be really interesting to see in the states.

For those who are interested, here's one drifting:

That's a London Taxis International TX1, not an Austin FX4. ;)

I've often found myself thinking what a hot rod version might be like, but it's not cool.

It would be cool to own, but does it need to exist in the motoring world? The world do without it. Meh.

I don't live in London. Any car that remains in production until it is an anachronism is Cool by default.

I'm sorry, but driving around in 2013 in a 1958-spec taxi has to be seriously uncool. I think I'd rather call a regular yellow taxi.

Also, the picture of one drifting on the wet pavement certainly isn't helping the cool factor.

I understand it's transportation vehicle, in other words, a taxi for the most part, but I always loved it's looks.

Low Cool, jsut barely skimmed it.

Nothing special or particularly good looking. It served a purpose, and must have been semi good at it if it lasted almost 40 years. Even longer than the Checker taxi in the U.S.

Meh
