It looks like an experiment to graft modern gun-emplacement car proportions onto a car from the 1950s.
 
Fails to start, if it starts it will surely overheat, and if you don't notice the cloud of steam, the heads will be stuck on the engine.

That said, Love it. Absolutely love it. Drives great when everything works as it should. Great to work on. Which will happen a lot.

My head says hell. My gut says high cool. Gotta go with the gut, screw the brain.

I don't like the mirrors, they're too long. If they were on the doors it would be better.
 
I'm not a fan of the looks at all. But the inside looks like a nice place to be.

'Old man's car' stigma aside, the hardtop-look variant managed to combine poise and grunt without too much pomp. While the ordinary saloon was a shade less classy than the equivalent XJ. The best in a group of respectable Rovers.

Cool, too Rover to be super-cool, but it's redolent of so many parts of British society in a particular era.
