1973-1975 Vauxhall Firenza HP nominated by @Wiegert

Body Style: 2-door coupe
Engine: 2.3L Vauxhall OHC slant-4
Power: 133 hp
Torque: 145 ft-lbs
Weight: 1040 kg
Transmission: 5-speed manual
Drivetrain: Front-engine, Rear wheel drive
Additional Information: A "High Performance" model released two years after the first Firenza rolled off the line, the HP incorporated additional aero appendages at the front, leading to the commonly used "Droopsnoot" moniker. As a consequence of the looming fuel crisis and drop in demand for such models, Vauxhall only managed to build 204 examples overall. Well short of the intended target of 1000 per year.

First thought: "What a strange looking car."

Second thought: "It looks like a Chrysler."

Meh.

Makes me wonder what was wrong with it when a car like that flamed out so spectacularly on the market that was snapping up all of the cars like that that they could.

Cool. A little out of proportion, but it's that front end that puts it into the Cool section.

Was going to go for Cool but it is superbly awesome somehow, and kinda out of character for the otherwise conservative arm of GM. SZ it is, British idiosyncratic classic.

This car should've been sold in America as a sporty Chevrolet back in the 70's, instead of the Vega. Cool.

Add about 400 pounds to the weight quoted above, slash about 30 horsepower from the engine. You've basically just spent the time and effort to import something that isn't any better (and, frankly, is probably worse) than the Cosworth Vega that you already can't sell.

The Cosworth Vega should've looked more like this then, because the Firenza looks much better than it.

If they would've put on a ducktail spoiler or something it would look a bit better to me.

Meh.

The Viva (the car this is based on) was a complete shed, and the stock Firenze wasn't much better. But always had a soft spot for the 'droopsnoot'.

Cool.

Easy cool.

Made a great base for the legendary 'Baby Bertha'.

Oh yes. Was just about to mention that and the legendary driver that was Gerry Marshall.

This makes it a very high cool and it would have been sub zero if it wasn't a bloody Vauxhall.

Cool. It's like 70s GM Vauxhall mixtape. Vauxhall chevette + vaxhaull viva. Intresting... rally cars had different front.

Far more vida than any Viva.

Cool.

'Old Nail' and 'Baby Bertha' used HP aero along with the odd rally spec Firenza. The majority were race-prepped 2300 Sport models with the standard front end.

Should be uncool, over-specced Viva.

However... as a child it was a dream of mine to own one, I've still never looked at one up-close-in-real-life and it should probably stay that way. Sub-zero :D
