Last rear-wheel drive from Volvo? Ostensibly because it's actually a DAF, not a Volvo. It's one of my earlier Volvo memories along with the trapezoid-shaped 440 series. I do adore these quite a lot in that "early car memories" sort of way that stays with you no matter what the vehicles were but it isn't cool at all.

Uncool

I can't even look at the peppier versions without imagining these only being marketed towards people aged 80-180.

It's like that frumpy girl from school you'd forgotten about. You bump into her 20 years later only to discover she hasn't aged well either.

Used to see so many of these, now they've all but vanished. If I saw one now I'd give it a second look for '90s nostalgia purposes but that aside, meh.

Last time I saw this car, I was watching an old episode of "Clarkson: Unleashed on Cars". I'd completely forgotten about it until now.

Big lump of meh.

SU

I remember seeing these on the streets in the 90s, and my god did it offend my eyes each time.

From an era when car designers thought wheels the size of skateboard wheels looked cool bolted under boxes.

They don't... apart from Alfas.

This isn't an Alfa, ergo Uncool.

Like a Dutch Renault via Sweden in the looks department. The remaining ones sometimes get listed as starter drift cars, that alone ruins any shred of dignity they might have had.

Uncool.

It's kind of quirky and cool IMHO. I mean, it has a transaxle in the back, and rear brakes are mounted inboard side of the axles, instead of the traditional way. Also, it's reasonably light, and the 2.0 GLT was reasonably swift for it's power.
