Todays cars might be better (ok, they are better) but 100mph in those old cars sure is thrilling. You feel everything, where as today's cars the same effect doesn't come about until up to double that in some cases. The lack of refinement makes it much more exciting.

My truck tries to shake itself to bits at 80 mph. The flux capacitor has no chance of activating unless I drive it off a cliff.

It's also quite interesting to try driving an Accent at over 100 mph. Particularly since most Accents don't have the tires or suspension to stay steady at that speed on anything but a wind-less, perfectly flat road.

Oh. Voted cool. It was a stupid truck, but it had an amusing name.
 
Weren't Corvette C3s still pumping 220hp in 1978? That must surely be able to at least keep up with this truck.
 
Base 1978 Californian Corvette's produced 175hp, according to my research*.

They had one in the test. It had narrower rear tires, shorter gearing and less torque; and another upshift right before 100 that the Dodge didn't have to deal with. Really, the claim doesn't mean much since all of the cars in the test were equipped for top speed runs specifically. A Trans Am would have slaughtered it with a manual, but the Trans Am manual couldn't be had with a final drive low enough for a top speed test.
