By society's standards (and by that I mean people that think cars are no more than appliances), the Prius is firmly in the 'cool' zone because environmentalism. By San Franciso hippy Prius 'enthusiast' standards I would guess that they think this particular model is not the latest model and therefore not clean enough, lowering its score on the coolometer.

I loathe Prius owners so much that I had to vote seriously uncool. Nothing against the car itself, it's great, but too many of its owners are bandwagon-hopping idiots.
 
Uncool. Prii drops this from a Meh to an Uncool. Actual sensible styling saves this from an SU... the Prius reputation has been ruined by idiot drivers clogging my streets... driving Priis.

It's just that basically every bad driver where I live drives a Prius... so therefore that ruins the reputation of the car.
 
Around here Prius drivers are prone to drive under the limit at low speeds and drive over 80mph on highways -- I guess for the sake of fuel economy and because the cars are extra quiet, respectively -- but otherwise they're mostly anonymous traffic.

This being the first-gen model, and not the second generation Prius that really kicked off what is one of the most obnoxious poo-flinging contests in automotive culture, gets a Meh from me. In another decade or two it could be cool.
