Additional Information: The Williams FW25 was the car Williams used for the 2003 Formula One World Championship. The FW25 was a completely new design from it's predecessors, and it was designed by Patrick Head, Gavin Fisher, and Antonia Terzi. The car was driven by Ralf Schumacher, Juan Pablo Montoya, and Marc Gene, who replaced Schumacher for the Italian Grand Prix after he was injured in a testing accident. Throughout the season, Williams and the FW25 won 4 races, took 4 poles, and was a strong contender for the 2003 Constuctor's title, only losing out to Ferrari after a rule change was implemented after the Hungarian Grand Prix that narrowed the width of the front tire. Montoya stated that the FW25 was his favorite F1 car he drove, praising the balance and the drivability with the powerful BMW engine which suited his aggressive driving style.

F1 cars are tools to do a job - winning races. The FW25 won 4 races in 32 attempts, so in that respect it was a failure. Can only be uncool.

It's an F1 car, so it's an automatic Cool for me.

It also won some races, and did it during the Ferrari/Schumacher era, so it gets extra cool points.

One of my all-time favorite F1 cars. Not to mention that BMW V10 sound is godly. Sub Zero.

To be fair it was the era of Ferrari and Michael Schumacher dominance. The fact that is won races at all, let alone the fact that it was a championship challenger, is quite an achievement.

ToCA Race Driver 3 memories. Not the greatest ever F1 car, but it was a car I particularly liked. So I'm going Cool on this one.

I'd vote Cool because it's a great car, but does it fit the Cool Wall regs? As with all F1 cars this is a prototype - and the one in the picture isn't even the season car, iirc it's the Catalunya test mule.

In any case this is not a production car by any stretch of the imagination.

Cool Wall Rules
  • One-off modified/custom models are not allowed. If the car is questionable, I will ask for proof of production.

Some of those no-wins were after the Bridgestone .vs. Michelin thing, but even at that point Montoya stayed with MSC's Ferrari around Monza. 11 podiums out of a possible 31 (if we presume Gene wasn't really a great drop-in), that's a better success rate than the win rate (against a mighty Ferrari) would suggest.

Ferrari took the 2003 CC with 158 points while Williams-BMW came second with 144, McLaren third with 142. The next team was Renault (fielding Alonso) with 88 points. I get your point but I don't think you can call any car "unsuccessful" when it stays so close to MSC in that era's Ferraris.

It's a race car, so it fits under the regulations for those.

Yeah I'll be honest and say I'm not quite sure why we're polling race cars again. This car is really only cool if you're a fan of the racing team that made it. I think I'll continue to pass on rating any race cars of any type.
