Personally,I think there should be an option to vote "undecided","borderline","neutral",or something on that order.Several times I have almost not voted (probably should not have) because the car is just as I stated.There really isn't enough to call it uncool,but on ther other hand there really isn't enough to call it cool either,it's just hinging right between the two options.

As I've said many, many times though, this is a discussion forum so discussion is encouraged. If people didn't want to talk about stuff then why did they join a forum in the first place? If you have an opinion, express it. I can see you personally can't have a problem with this as you're responding to my posts. It's ironic that some fairly vocal people are happy to voice their opinion yet seem unable to do so in a topic which could actually be interesting, like the polls.

Totally agree with you and I'm always up for a good debate, no matter what side I take and no matter what the result is. It's just on this occasion I believe that your name doesn't need to be dragged through the mud if you decide the other way but like I said previously, I do believe we should have a gentlemen's agreement that if you vote for the extremes (sub-zero or seriously uncool) then you should atleast tell us why you feel so strongly for it. 👍

I actually OWN a sleeper with my Cressida. I love it for that very reason. People around my area know it's a very cool car because it has a TT Supra motor....but if Joe Schmo said my car sucked or was seriously uncool just based on it's looks, that's fine, it's their prerogative if they decide so because I didn't build my car for them, I built it for ME! They find out it's cool or sub-zero when I mash that accelerator and leave them at the lights going, "WTF has been done do that?!?!!"

I believe you can't vote a car uncool or cool based solely on looks. Looks can be a factor, they can't be the sole reason. There's also little correlation between looks and cool - some good looking cars are "uncool" on our wall, and some pretty ugly ones are "cool".

That's true too, but for Joe Schmo, they wouldn't care. You and I might but they might not.

Actually, I both agree and disagree with hfs:

I don't think we should taking the voting on the cool wall so seriously. A car's level of cool is like a politician's winnability. It doesn't matter if he's a terrible President, if he's got charisma and attracts votes, we should recognize that.

But I'm nosy, too. I love seeing how people vote.

The only heat in these Cool Wall threads is when somebody says something outrageous or silly. I've voted against the grain... against the usual people who get into Cool Wall debates (on both sides, I've voted with and against hfs, Famine and TheCracker, I've also voted with and against Joey D) a number of times, and I've publicly stated so. I hardly ever get called out unless I argue with one of them.

Why?

I don't give convoluted reasons for my vote. I simply state: "I simply don't like it."

"It's a great car, it's good value for money, it's fast (and whatever), but I just don't like it."

For those who don't actually post, but simply vote, the result is the same... nobody pays attention to them personally.

Oh, some people may moan about "all those people" voting for one thing or another, but there are no call-outs.

There's no need to. As long as you have something to make your opinion, it's enough. And that "something" to me are looks (what everyone sees). Of course, if I know something else of the car we are voting, I will use it to make my vote. When I'm walking down the street, I don't have my notebook to see what the specs of the cars are, so I can judge them based on something else than looks.

The Cool Wall wasn't made by just one person's opinions. It was made by hundreds of persons' opinions. That's why it varies so much. It also varies based on what we know.

Until we hit the gas pedal and then we have you go, "OMGWTFBBQ!!1!1!' and then realise it is a cool car. We build sleepers because we DON'T want the attention that owning a bling bling looking car makes, be it from other car owners, thieves or police. 👍
