Ok, GTP was down most of yesterday...... After the server was back up, I noticed that I was not recieving E-Mail notification, for any of my subscribed threads.... This is not the first time this has happened....

The last time it happened, I talked to Jordan, and my Internet Provider..... Both said nothing was wrong..... Then as soon as Jordan went to a new server, I started recieving e-mail notification, once again...... So, obviously it has something to do with the server......

I would like to recieve E-Mail notification, and I would appreciate anyones help, in fixing this problem....

Thankyou......

;)

Very strange...I just sent you an email via the form here on the site. Check your mail and let me know if you get it...that should tell us if you are getting all mail from the server or just post notifications.

Well, I recieved your e-mail.....

I am still not recieving any post notifications........

This is pretty much the exaxct same thing that happened last time........

Sorry for the double post, but I really want to figure this problem out....

The last time it happened, I contacted Jordan, as well as Verizon (my IP).... Both parties said that there should be nothing wrong, and that everything was running fine...... Obviously this is not the case.....

I am watching people reply to all my subscribed threads, and not a single notification is showing up in my in box......

Jordan, could you possibly talk to someone who runs the server, and find out if this kind of thing is common, and/or if they know how to aleviate the problem........

Thankyou......

;)

I am the one that runs the server. It's just virtually impossible to fix a problem that I can't find. :( I'll contact the vB developers and see what they have to say.

I just tried changing your email address to mine (don't worry, it was just for a second, and I changed it back), to see if I got an email when I replied to this thread. I didn't. However, I had already made the above post, so the notification for this thread was probably already sent out. Reply to this thread again so I can conduct this experiment one more time before I come to any conclusions.

Ok, I'm responding........

Also, thankyou for taking the time to help me with this problem.....

BTW, did you get that e-mail I sent you (about the vid)?......

;)

Actually, no I did not get any email from you. I just did the experiment again with this post, however, and I did receive the email. So, new post notifcations are definitely being sent out, but they are being blocked by your email provider. I'd say Verizon's anti-spam filters are to blame here.

It's not Verizon.... Nothing has changed... I'm not getting notifications in my spam box....

This happened before, right after the server was down. Then when we changed servers, I started recieving notifications again........

It is doing the same thing, once again.... I have been through it with Verizon, and there is no blockage anywhere.....

Thanks for trying though.......

;)

Well...it has to be Verizon. Did you ever try getting a free email address, such as Hotmail or Yahoo, and using it to receive your notifications?

It is definitely not Verizon....... I have been through it with them, and we have run several tests.....

I have recieved post notifications ever since I became a member. I don't think it is a coincidence that it only has happened when GTP goes down...... You don't seam to understand..... As soon as we went to a different server, I started recieving notifications once again.... These events are too closely linked to be a coincidence IMHO.......

Nevermind, no one seams to be able to figure it out, so I'll just deal with it......

I'm on GTP too much anyway....

GTPlanet has been taking a while to load pages for me, and also, when I goto the New Posts page, only the top 6 load, and when I click something the rest appear, and then the page I clicked starts loading. :banghead:

Edit:

I just got these errors.

Now that we have made the switch to the new version of V-Bulletin, I have started recieving e-mail notification once more....... This further cements my previous claim that it was not Verizon, but indeed, something on the GTP side.......

Anyway, it's fixed, for now..... I hope it doesn't happen again.....

Isn't it strange that you're the only one whose mentioned this? If it was a GTP thing, wouldn't more people be complaining?

Well, this was the second time it happened, and at the same time as the GTP server being down, once again. The first time, I started recieving notifications again, after we changed servers. This time, I started recieving notifications again, after the change to GTP6...... Also, I contacted Verizon, and we ran quite a few tests to make sure everything was sending/recieving fine, and there was nothing wrong.....

Like it or not, it was a problem with the server, or some other GTP related issue.....

Mathmaticaly speaking, there are too many linked events for it to be a coincidence.....

;)

Wow, that is so strange... It does seem as if it would be vBulletin, but if it was I don't see how it would send email perfectly to other addresses? I don't know if we could ever figure this out.

I know, it's quite an odd issue..... We didn't figure it out the first time, and we still didn't figure it out the second time. As long as it doesn't happen again, we'll be fine. However, if it does, at least we know now, where the problem stems, and that's a step in the right direction......
