Welcome to the GTPlanet.net F1 Challenge 2007!

This is for all people who own the EA Sports title "F1 Challenge '99-'02" on PC-CD.

Not counting anything from the OLR forum, there hasn't been a proper online racing series for the folks here at GTPlanet.net. But, hopefully, that will all be about to change. Myself, and Abdeslam Charakoui, or Appie as you may know him here, are in the process of hosting a proper online racing series using F1C and the recently released 2007 Mod from F-1Mania.es, which includes all 11 teams for 2007, with 2007 cars, driver line-ups and race calender. There's even a Mercedes safety car for online play.

What we propose is to run the season a couple of weeks behind the real F1 2007 season, and using F1C's great online play feature, play host to some great races. We hope to set up an open private test which we will provide the name and password for, so people can get used to both playing online and using the 2007 cars.

Appie has supported this idea, and we have already been testing how the servers run, and they seem to run very good, even if there is a little lag. If you wish to compete, here is what you will need to do:

1) Make sure you have a copy of F1C. You should be able to find one in most games shops, but if not, eBay is your best bet.
2) Head over to www.f-1mania.es and download and install the 2007 mod.
3) Register on Gamespy Arcade, so you are able to play online. It should be free to set an account up.

Once there, you can then decide which team you wish to drive for. Here is your selection:

F1rstly: http://www.f1rst3.com/ Have a look there and see what you make of that.

Secondly, I doubt many people play F1 challenge here, you would have much more chance of getting an online F1 series off the ground if you used a more current game such as rFactor, which runs on the same engine, has better online capabilities and more people on this forum are liklely to have rFactor. Add to that the rFactor F1 mods are much better (i.e. less likely to be leeched) and certain mods (i.e. CTDP 2005) have special carsets specifically for online mode (as in the cars have equal performance).

On the other hand, if you dont own rFactor buy it:P I honestly dont think using F1C will be beneficial to the series you want to run.

This isnt a dig, its helpful advice to make the series better and have a chance of getting past the sign up stage;)
