i have to admit this is a pretty controlled forum . Why? i took a look at 2 members, Auto_1 and Total Turbo are 2 banned members and i searched on what they did wrong. And something hit me. if these members did this on some other forums they would not even be scolded! It seems as though if a member says something bad to another member he will get banned, and while i dont want people getting bullied on the site, it looks as if they say one bad comment because they disagreed and their gone. on other boards they actually tolerate the stuff unless it is a threat or rascist comment. also gtp seems to dislike people if they go against a popular opinion. i dont really know really, (i am just writing on whats on my mind). also on gtp not many people lke peole like total turbo who talk like: yeah, that Suckks, you Need to get a lIFe, read intial D it oWNZ!!11!.

the internet is full of people like that on forums yet we seem to kick them out. while others take them in the community. Think this is right? or did Auto_1 and Total Turbo get what they deserve for disrespecting people?

The GTF is much more strict than GTP and heaps more topics get locked.

And in my forums i don't tolerate ANY sort of arguing (you know what i mean), fighting, name calling etc...
Luckily no-one has ever needed to be banned from my boards. :)
 
Hey, we're just enforcing the AUP and TOS that have been set out, and those rules are not only rules, but good rules.

We want people to learn things and find useful information on GTP (and in the case of the Opinion and other forums, even life-changing information). We want this to be a great community, where people can come, knowing that they won't have to waddle through 60 pages of ridiculous spam messages just so members can get cutesy pictures under their name. Like any real-life community, we need rules to help keep the order.

You also must take into consideration that you're blowing things somewhat out of proportion-- Trust me, unless there is a truly out-of-bounds remark made by a user (death threats for one), then no one gets banned on their first, even their second offense. You have to take into consideration the forces outside of what you see when doing a search on someone's posts... as an example, one of the people that you mentioned aboe (I won't name names)... I contacted with him via PM 3 or 4 times to ask him to stop what he was doing, and each time he rudely replied, purposely trying to push me. He also sent a very, very disturbing and rude PM to one of the other moderators (and I mean seriously disturbing... it was grounds for instant banning right then and there). As of now, we've logged between 6-8 offenses for this user. So please don't go thinking that we just ban anybody right away, except in the most extreme circumstances.

These people got banned because of repeated breaches of the Acceptable Use Policy (check the link in my sig). They were given a couple of warnings by the mods and continued to breach the AUP - hence being banned.

We keep a reasonably close check on things here - arguing and good natured ribbing are fine, it's just when it starts getting abusive, that tends to be the main problem.

I haven't seen a forum where the moderators and the administrators are that friendly. There are a lot of members here that wouldn't stay long on other forums i've been to.
 
Total_turbo deserved to go

Auto_1 also deserved to go....but its always good cause he comes back(seeing he is my friend)

gamers.com if you look at some comments in the game perview comments or review comments. some times they curse and disrespect each other.

At other forums I go to you can be banned for publicly questioning the actions of a moderator. Mods call the members ****stains, and all kinds of other interesting names.:rolleyes:
 
Very interesting...., I might also add, that your search does not provide you with results of threads that have been deleted or removed from the public eye.

The GTF has a big status-quo issue that nobody wants to deal with for fear of getting blackballed.

There, you can be a total idiot if you have 1000 posts and have been there over a year. But if you're a butt-head and post lame stuff right from the start, you're doomed. There's plenty of forums where you can be treated like a piece of dirt right from the start...they're in the minority, thankfully.

As it is, we've all seen the BS before, many of us have been to other forums, and we won't tolerate utter nonsence. Either you contribute something useful to the forum, or you don't. It's that simple.

Find another place to put down others; this isn't the place, the mods feel. Look how few get banned here. You really have to drop the ball to get banned at GTPlanet.
 
What if I say "Admins suck." Does that count as strike two for me? ;)

I think someone should set down a guideline of things that you cannot type. Expand the AUP to 75 or 80 pages

I can't understand there are still some members that whine at the quality of the mods/admins on GTP. Spend a few hours at various other forums, and you'll see no one here can be classified as a nazi-mod. (except Josh, everyone hates him. :p) Lying and assclownery in general is still relatively well accepted here...

Well, if anyone deserves a preemptive strike I do.

You're both just lowly Super Moderators anyway. I believe Jordan and AltF8 are the only Adminsistrators.

There's always someone *****ing about the way I act as a moderator. Occasionally I talk **** to a few people. Bah, cry me a river, build me a bridge, and get the **** over it...:rolleyes:

Yeah, everyone hates me, but I don't care. I've always got my lil' friend(circled in red) for those haters.;)
