The last few days, When I open up the GTP Homepage, and go into my User Control Panel, I usually get the usual, "You must login message" but it's been taking me right to my User Control panel even after completely cleaning out my cache and cookies.

All of the forums post seem to be out of order and not showing up. I would make a post but not be able to see it until the next day. Also, If the last post indicator says the so and so last posted in this thread at this time, I would click on the "Go To Last Post" button, but in fact quite a few people have posted after the person that it said above the last post button.

In the words of km:

:odd:

EDIT: This is what I mean. Directly after posting this thread I click on the GTP Forums link to take me to the Forums main page, and it clearly says that Jordan has last posted, which he didn't. When I click the go to the last post button in the Question and Comments forum, it the takes me to this thread I just created. :grumpy:

I have no clue about your troubles man. Atleast I'm not the only one with troubles. Your ones wierd though.

I'm still also having troubles too. Not the same as yours, but still annoying ones. When I jump onto GTP instead of saying. Welcome back DRIFT4EVA. It says. Welcome Back oosacker. Most times when I go into my gtplanet to check PMs etc it says User control panel for oosacker. Just yesterday it said someone elses username. I've tried everything. I sent Jordan a PM explaining it all. Yet I havn't heard back.

Come on Jordan. Plz help us

Try clearing your cache and Temporary Internet Files. Im not sure how to clear your cache but you can clear your Temporary Internet Files through the Tools Menu for IE. :)

yeah, I've been having trouble with the system too (although usually it's on account of my system timing out). What happens is that I'll post something and then the page that says "redirecting you to your post" won't show up. When I refresh, the page loads, but it brings me to the post before the one I just made. It's really strange...

I seam to remember oosacker having a similar problem where he would log on as some random user name. I had a similar problem on one occasion where I logged on as this random user too.

Don't worry it usually sorts itself out, unless your unlucky.

Acidman, there could be one of two things happening here. First, your ISP might be using a proxy server, which is just serving up old versions of pages to save their bandwidth. There's really nothing you can do about that short of switching ISP's. But, that might not be the problem, so try this instead. Go to "Tools", "Internet Options", then click on the "Settings" button in the "Temporary Internet Files" section of that window. There you should see the option to change when to "Check for newer versions of stored pages". I'd recommend setting this to "Automatically". That's what I use and I don't have any problems. If that still doesn't help, try "Every visit to the page" and see if that helps.

DRIFT4EVA, sorry that I missed your PM. I was on vacation when you sent it to me, and it slipped through the cracks. Unless you and oosacker are using the same computer at different times, it looks like your ISP's are to blame. Since you are both from New Zealand, I suspect your two providers are sharing a proxy server of some type. That's really the only explanation that I could think would be a possibility.

Thanks for the adivce Jordan.

I had that option on "Every time you visit that page", and changed it to "Automatically."

That, combined with a Ctrl + clicking the Refresh button (I'm running IE so I believe that forces the page to totally refresh?) every so often fixes the problem.

Also, a few days ago (when this problem stated) my Father had put a a proxy firewall in our home network which goes like this:

Internet > Father's Computer > My Computer.

So to gain access to the internet I have to go through his computer and therefore his firewall as well. Could that proxy firewall have something to do with it as well?

Yes, the proxy is most definitely the problem (see this page if you aren't familiar with how proxy servers work...as you can see it can easily create problems when dealing with web pages that are constantly changing). Although I'm not familiar with personal proxy server configuration, there may be some way to get it to stop caching your HTTP traffic. I wish I could offer more help, but that's all I know to tell you for now.

Cheers Jordan. I will just have to put up with it. I don't know a thing about that kind of stuff. *turns away* Stupid New Zealand. Always having technical problems. *turns back* Acting all happy.

Hope you had a good vacation at that time.

Thanks again for the advice, Jordan

I guess all I can do is just try and coax my Father into disabling the Firewall. I never really saw a need for it in the first place.
