I dont know who gets to read what seeing as the forum is made up of all different nationalaties but I scanned these images from the "Playstation 2 official magazine-uk" June 2004 issue. It is the review for GTP, just so the rest of you all can enjoy. :D

I had to make them quite big files so that you can read the smaller text 2.66mb each  sorry. if you want tho i will copy the text from the main review and post it as a text file if any of you want it.

page one

page two

Erm.

"a fictious African hill town" ??

"Arcade mode is purely a race against the clock with nary another vehicle to be seen" ??

Hmm.

The files are not working with me.
Anyone else has the same problem??

Those people who are writing for various official Sony's PR stuff should all get fired.

Two weeks ago, at offical Sony's PlayStation site, www.eu.playstation.com, some guy wrote down an article about Prologue, and said something like "after finishing the licence test, you can go and compete aginst your friends in multiplayer".

Link to the whole article, signed by mr. Oli Landenburg. Everybody: Hello, Oli! Shizznut is in the 8th paragraph.

For the sallaries they get (and they are not small, no way), they should at least know what are they talking about. I'd fire editors first (they are guilty for not cheking what are the journous are writing) and then journous, 'cause thaey are 100% incompetent.

And for OPM, no need to spend any words, they just suck for ast 7 years, especially in Gran Turismo related stories.

Fire them all, Sony, fire them all.

Unfortunately the magazines that are allowed to carry the cover discs can afford to get away with almost anything, because people will buy them for the disc anyway. I wish we'd get a disc-only membership option from Sony. That will even out the field for the magazines and promote some healthy competition that has to do with quality and quantity, not cover discs or no cover discs.

Apart from the obvious blatant mistakes made above, and the fact that the journos were too lame to find the M5, I would like to point out that the charm of this game is that if you have the new wheel, women in fact do pick up this game rather well. In fact, anyone who drives cars in real life can pick up this game amazingly well thanks to the realism (though you'll have to remind them of their speed occasionally :D). This was already the case with GT3 to an extent (I put my aunt and uncle behind two wheels and let them race each other, and they had a blast, without any prior even gaming experience - many other such non-gaming couples have seen these wheels and were hooked), but this is way improved by the new wheel and when GT4 is out, I'll probably buy a second one :D

These OPM folk probably just used the controller though ...

All I can say is they must of been reviewing a different copy of the game to the one I have. Quite possible given publishing deadlines for print media. Firstly the details box is completely wrong. Their is no 60hz option, I know this can be opened up via use of AR Max, and surround sound definitely seems working in my copy, most evident on the replays. Secondly, didn’t the name Citti Di Airia (sp?), give clue as already mentioned, that this track is obviously set in Italy. Thirdly opponents can be turned on in the arcade mode. Lastly, although perhaps a matter of personal opinion, I found the gold’s in the licence test much easier to get than in previous versions.

I posted my comments about this review about 2 weeks ago, and immediately spotted all the errors mentioned above.
To be honest I dont think they even reviewed the game afresh from the Import version, they just took what they new and re wrote it, as they obviously hadnt been able to read the menus, and dscover the AI switch.
Im really dissapointed at OPSM2 coverage of GT4, they always have come late with pics and info, never had any vids on disc, they are always whining about it being Too HARD ie realisticand just generally talk down about it, and then they always like to bleat on about how NFSU2 and Juiced are gonna be fantastic, theres even a small boxout in the mag about Enthusia, and the fact that Nordschliefe is gonna be in that, and that should make it worth the asking price alone...Wonders how they are gonna feel now that a near perfect replica of the same track is gonna feature in GT4 plus the other 49+ tracks.

   How can they write that? They compared the AI to Rover drivers, which may be true but are Rover drivers that bad cos Top Gear always talks of how slow and bad they drive. (I'm not old enough to drive in uk yet so so i cant really say. Im 16 BTW)

Don't know why they're gettin so excited about Burnout, Juiced etc cos theres already way too many Street Racing games ou there but only ONE Gran Turismo series and full length sequels only come by once in a blue moon (Always an agonising wait) . Unlike most other games which are released every year.

Lol

Just what I thought. This is why I tell my dad not to buy this magazine but he still duz :banghead: . The review is a load of rubbish and to be honest so was the disk that month as well. opsm2 have a responsibility to report the facts and give an honest and non-biased opinion about the game's they review.

Shame they don’t always do it. :grumpy:

I can understand de 7 out of 10. GT4p isn't a perfect game by a long shot. But the arguments used in the review itself are yust bollocks.
