GTP rules broken/bent??

Today i have raced way to many races at the F430 vrs GTR event and as we all know punters paradise(for some tags too it seems). Anyhow one of my last races of the night i was yet again punted into the sand on corner one at the start of the race, my punter ended up in the sand also, made my way back onto the track, tried to scrub my tyres and saw my punter making his way back to the track, so i decided to stay wide on turn 2 so he bounced back of me before he could reach the tarmac. Was i wrong to do this, i don't feel guilty only another GTP racer witnessed this and brought it to my attention.
People say don't do this as the punter does not learn yet earlier in the evening i raced a JP racer, followed him for just over two laps, braked early so not to touch him, even waited for him when he spun in the chicane, yet when i passed him at start of third lap he hit my back end in turn one, putting me in sand and he buggered off. Have i totally ignored GTP rules of etiquette here??
 
I was the witness and I don't think you have broken any rules. He made a "hit to kill" move on you, you just made sure he wasn't coming back to the track beside you, by going wide on the track while he was still in the grass and about to enter the track.

Besides, two more notes:

1st - Acording to the those same rules we try to follow, we can't return to the track when there's traffic going by. Had you not made sure he couldn't come in at that moment, he was either going to punt you again or he was going to punt me, because I was closely following your car. HE had to let us pass before getting back to track, something this guy obviously doesn't even realize ...

2nd - There's no rule in GTPlanet about "hitting back punters" (and you didn't even hit him, you just had your car there), we already had a thread (a poll even) about that issue and the result of the discussion is that some "hit back", some don't.

I see nothing wrong with what you did Cashwars, if anything the guy should have looked if the track was clear so that he could get back on. If i see cars coming up i just stay off the track till they pass.

As for the second scenario, I believe some people just don't care whether you show them respect or not, they will just be A holes no matter what.
 
I didn't see the incident, but I doubt you were in the wrong.
F430/GTR has unleashed some horrific driving, and for the last three hours I've been far more aggressive about what I consider proper behavior when trying to pass. If the person in front makes a mistake or gives me room, I take it, and if there is contact as I am making the pass and they go off, then so be it. They were beaten to the spot, and when this happens to me, I let up and give room.
Previously I was waiting for "perfect pass" opportunities against drivers who punt me as soon as I'm alongside anyway. I was having back of the pack finishes and frustrating races. I had much better races and finishes when I pushed harder.
 
Hi guys, I was racing during the time frame you guys were this afternoon as well. The behaviour of some of the drivers in that event at the time was pretty frustrating to say the least. I had several races in the GTR when the leader into the first corner from the start deliberately slowed down to 120kph or so at the entrance to the corner. Needless to say that was leading to incredible carnage for the pack all entering the corner at the normal speed of 160kph or better and I was punted into the sand more often than not. I managed to break ahead of the pack on a couple of occasions and that resulted in me having a handy lead through the esses as the rest of the pack tried to deal with usual chaos. My respects to all of you including Timpaqq for getting sensational results in the Ferraris which are a bit too much of a handful for me. 👍

CW, by the sounds of it if you were simply blocking his path and he chose to ram you from the infield then the problem lies with the other driver. He had the option of stopping and waiting for you to move on or driving around you but chose to force the issue. There was a very wide disparity between driver skills on display at the time and I suspect much of the carnage was due to poor skills as much as anything else. Even so, there were also some :dunce: who seemed intent on spoiling everyone elses race as well.

I was driving the GTR coz its nice and stable and helps me ensure I don't spoil anybody else's race. I don't think I caused problems for any of you guys but I also had some heavy offs which may have resulted in impacting on your race. If so, my sincere apologies, it was definitely not intentional.
 
dont see anything wrong with that at all.
ive yet to have a clean 1st corner in the GTR v f430 race as ive been punted so many times.

Agreed. It's too easy to check the track map or side view to make sure you are not interupting anyones line when re-entering the track. Sadly too many drivers are content to carry their out of control momentum back on to the track asap.
 
Apologies to all the clean drivers last night. I was in the silver GT-R.

I tried to stay clean and respectful while racing the GTR-Ferrari races.

I was guilty of slowing a bit too much approaching the the first turn (trying to stay out of the mess) but found out that that's the best way to get punted into the sand.

I started taking the corner faster and realized I could get through a few times and be in third or fourth place heading into the esses.

There was another instance when I came back on the track too soon after the sand and slightly bumped a yellow ferrari.

After that I made sure to look for oncoming traffic before getting back on the track.

Only a few GTP racers showed up here and there. There were some good races, but a lot of disconnects.
 
I think that even if you are punted by someone, you don't need to "answer".
But sometimes it's hard to stay cool, especially when you are in bad mood...
And in your case you aren't guilty.

P.S. Sorry to all. I tried to race in this event, but this was a real punter's paradise, so I quitted several times...
 
I tell you what, racing in the GTR, F430 race has made me the most frustrated with GT5 than I have ever been before. Oddly enough most of my frustration has been with JP drivers. I'll take care around them and then when I get in front of them, they just give you that nice tap sending your already precarious Ferrari flying into the gravel.

My biggest complaint is against superdiachi (or something like that) That JPN driver was huge punter...

we should be able to have black GTR's tinted windows and have us a mob squad to dispose of all these punters
 
this is going to sound stupid but you guys are talking like there is a set of rules written somwhere , if there is can I have the link?
 
Cashwars - I wouldn't loose any sleep over it, I think most have had an attack of the red mist every now and again. The fact that it bothers you enough to post about about it shows that it's not the sort of thing you usually do and it's not your style. I've had to learn to really control my temper when I've been punted off 4 times in the same race!
 
Sorry about yesterday uk86ze. I bumped you pretty bad in the first turn and I think it upset you a little. You were in the white GTR and I was in the dark gray.

I could see your frustration and tried to give you as much room as possible.
