Lets play a game! So, on my favorite internet show The Totally Rad Show they do a yearly summer game of attempting to predict the performance of summer movies with which there will eventually be a grand prize (normally, the two losers have to clean the winners car). While I am uncertain of what prize you will win, just for fun, this could be cool.

The Rules:
* Pick TEN movies that you think will do well this summer (May 1st-August 31st)
* Place them in order of performance you anticipate (Domestic US scores, please)
* Also, pick THREE "dark horse" choices (these being films you think will do well, but don't know how well overall)

The Scoring:
* 13 points each awarded for getting #1 or #10 exactly correct.
* 10 points each for getting #2-9 exactly correct.
* 7 points for each pick that is 1 spot off
* 5 points for being 2 spots off
* 3 points for every pick that actually was in the top 10
* 1 point for each dark horse in the top 10

Also, I'd love to discuss picks with everyone, as I have a lot of mixed feelings about my own as genuinely, there are some major holes in my choices.

This is retarded. Movies aren't good or bad because of sales.

I didn't see anywhere where it says they are.

This should have been created last month. Wolverine's overall performance can already be predicted by now & Star Trek's won't take long either.

So, ignoring those 2

And then I'm struggling.

The big struggle I had this year was with the "kids" movies, particularly Night at the Museum and Ice Age. Both have a lot of star power behind them, both are pretty successful franchises, and both have done exceptionally well in years previous. I keep wondering if I should have had them higher on the list, but I really think this year is going to be dominated by the Transformers-Terminator-Star Trek trio. Wolverine, in all honesty, is bound to fall flat with the bounty that we have this month, and the poor reviews aren't going to have people returning to see it "later." Jeff made a good point on the show about Harry Potter 6, that because the books are done, there may not be as much interest in the franchise as there was before. I'm not sure how I feel about that, especially since the sixth book was my favorite of them all.

It should be an interesting movie season, particularly towards the end when the summer starts to wind down. Although after looking at that list again, there are a bunch of movies that I totally forgot about that I want to see (Drag Me to Hell stands out).

If this had stated a month ago I would have probably put the Hannah Montana movie pretty high up my list as you can tell literally every kid (and all the dragged along parents) are going to see that one!

But anywho here are my predictions..

Top 10
1. Terminator
2. Harry Potter
3. Star Trek
4. Transformers 2
5. Angels And Demons
6. Night At The Museum 2
7. Ice Age 3
8. G.I. Joe
9. Taking Of Pelham 123
10. Up

Still thinking about Dark Horses..

Robin.

Top 10
1 Transformers 2
2 harry potter
3 Terminator
4 Ice Age 3
5 Star Trek
6 Public Enemies
7 Night at the Museum 2
8 The Proposal
9 Up
10 Ghosts of Girlfriends past

Dark Horses
Angels and Demons
Bruno
The Hangover
I'll tell you now that it won't make it into anyone's Top 10 list by the end of the year. It's gotten a lot of poor reviews, and that the co-star steals it.

5. X-Men 4

7. Transformers 2

And then I'm struggling.

I've just seen a trailer for Public Enemies. That's going to be a film full of win and, while it won't rake in the cinematic release cash of the summer sequels, it's going to be a good outside bet. Will probably rock up a ton of DVD sales, like The Prestige and Inside Man before it.

YSSMAN's Picks
1) Transformers 2
2) Terminator Salvation
3) Star Trek
4) Harry Potter 6
5) G.I. Joe
6) Wolverine
7) UP
8) Ice Age 3
9) Night at the Museum 2
10) Inglorious Basterds

Well, my #2 and #9 picks probably should have been switched around. Terminator got its ass handed to it in the theaters last weekend (no surprise, it wasn't very good). Aaaah well, everyone makes mistakes.

I had to put some kind of chick flick in there to break it up as my list was almost looking like only males go to cinemas. I doubt it will do great either to be honest :)
