GTP V8 Supercars Series Round 8: Tokyo R246

This is a street round so you can choose from hard, medium & soft compound tyres. Only one set of the soft tyres is allowed over the two races.

G'Day all !

Interesting concept Stig, two leg races for each class 👍
Looking forward to it, should be really be able to put the hammer down for each leg, the extended deadline is going to be really useful as well.

Will the final results be based on aggregate times or just the best result from either leg ?

Cheers.

Very cool setup Stig, we should always do it like this for street races. That is how the Supercars really do it right?

Also is the one set of soft tyres for one race or both in each class.

Ex. SC class. 1. RS/RH 2. RH

or

1. RS/RH 2. RS/RH

I should think it would be one set of soft tyres per race for both classes as usual ?
I am sure Stig will clarify .

I have completed my two races in the Production Class with the LSX Engineering Commode.
I raced with SS tyres in both legs, and found no need to pit.
Very consistent laps, and improved my total race time in leg two.

Just the SuperCar and Proddy Car for team Map O' Tassie to do now.

Good luck all.

Greetings all -
The way I read what TheStig13 has listed is that we can only use one set of soft tires per class.

This would mean that while we will run two short races in the V8Production class, only one race could you use the soft tires, while the other race you would have to be on mediums or hards.

I think that this restriction would be what TheStig13 had in mind, because if we just run the race on softs, twice, it kind of defeats the purpose of having two races.

We need clarification from the race steward so we don't all run the races differently.

Respectfully,
GTsail290

By George ! I think he's got it !
You are probably right in having to use SS for one leg and SH for the second leg in the Production Race and RS & RH or RM for the SuperCar races.

No biggie either way as I will only have to redo one race at this stage.

Hit the nail on the head there, GTsail290; that was exactly what I had in mind for this race. The only problem is that I forgot to put this rule in the opening post and this has caused some confusion. This rule has been used at real V8 Supercars races, but it was only at Sprint rounds.

Submitted, but basically just for whatever points it will pay.
Need to get back on it, but I've been busy still.

Better than a DNS I suppose. 👎

Times submitted.
Pretty pleased with my effort considering had the distraction of re formatting PC and trying to fix a host of problems with the damn thing at same time as running this.
Grrrr, I hate computers.

I feel your pain. Still having my own. Ran short on time this week. But got the 4 runs in.

Forgot to mention I actually managed to get six runs in this round ( four races for team Map O'Tassie and two races for team LSX) and nary a pit stop was to be found !!
Slowly improving my efforts with the Commodore but still prefer the FPV, which I believe is slightly better geared and has better brakes.

Good luck all.

Like fogbound mentioned in the SuperGT post. This week was a blur of races. Spent more time on these races just fiddling with what AI difficulty to use. Perfected it (unfortunately late) in the GT300 but ran out of time to rerun the V8's again.

Thanks to fogbound for our team points showing.

Thanks for inviting me to join and the coaching!

Oops! Looks like I've somehow missed this round entirely and earned myself a DNS! :dunce:

Submit them anyway. You not late for class if you walk in with the teacher. He hasn't posted them yet. And you might get away with just the added time.

Edit: Congrats to Viperin and GTsail290 for the double wins.

WOW!

What a crazy assortment of times.

Nice job Viperin with the wins:tup:

It would have been interesting if the V8Supercar race had been one lap longer, since my medium tires were shot on the last lap. I chose to nurse them for the last lap instead of making a pit stop for the change to softs. One more lap would have forced a pit stop, or I could have tried hards for the entire race as an alternative.

Congrats Viperin and GTsail!

Viper, Great drive in the #55! A win and fast lap! I promise to get back in shape for the enduro's so as to not have you doing everything for LSX-E

Camikaze, nice job nailing down some fast laps! Same to you Fogbound.

How did you guys get so fast? I need to stop playing GT5p

LSX

Just my 2 cents. This track was made for drafting. I used the snake(5 cars) to get me faster than I would have otherwise. Was not able to find the right combo for the Production class but it worked in the SC class.

Greetings fellow Tokyo drivers -
Here is my race in the Holden Commodore SS at R246. My time of 7.47.315 only edged Viperin's race by a tenth of a second. Fairly straightforward since I ran against a weak AI lineup.:)

Youtube is having trouble with my Video upload. I will try again later.

See you all next week.

Learning the manage tires properly seems to be the key to real race speed. I, however seem to be heading the wrong direction with my total race time.

Thanks a great race guys!

I noticed that my times are highlighted. Why is this?

The reason your times are highlighted is because of the 20 second penalty for late submission of times :ouch:.
Also, it is great to see that you have been enjoying the series.

As much as I would like to win some of these races I don't think I ran that fast when adjusted for the 20 second penalty. I didn't really feel like I "came to terms" with these front heavy cars and didn't get enough seat time to get a good result. I think I just figured out what I did wrong and will now PM stig13 and get a judgment call. I hope I don't get DQ'd and cost my team points and embarrassment but not much can be done at this point.

I will keep you posted.

Aw darn. :( I was thinking there was 1 compulsory pitstop for the races in this round in the Supercars division(Div. 1).

Well done everyone !!
I was in the same position, GTsail, with my RM tyres going off on the last lap
(the RH were great btw in the other leg).
I did do a comparo of using RS and pitting and just using RM and stumbling through with no stops.
No contest, the no pit strategy was fastest but fraught with danger.

I enjoyed the Commodore in the Proddy races, starting to get the hang of the different driving style required compared to the FPV GT.
Still prefer the Ford by a whisker though.

Later.

regarding my earlier post, during my race runs, I used my four soft tires in the rear positions. I found this to be an illegal act after the event. I received a modest weight penalty, which I accept without complaint.

I would like to apologize to my team and fellow competitors for my poor judgment.

AH, that makes sense. No worries.

Nice laps anyway, even if there was a technical rule violation.

The race steward needs something to do to earn his large salary. Keeping hot-headed drivers like us in-line is why TheStig13 makes the big bucks!

Respectfully,
GTsail
