Racing Hard Tires | Real Grip Reduction

Race Stewards Comments:

The aim of this qualifier is to create divisions within the GTP_Registry specific to GT6. Each of the two parts of the GT6 qualifier consist of a hot lap time trial in arcade mode using a Courtesy Car. The two combos have been purposefully selected to:
  1. Provide a challenge and test different car handling skills.
  2. Be easily accessible without requiring accumulation of credits or progress in the game.
  3. Be enjoyable and leverage new assets in GT6.
We intend to keep the qualifier open to allow members to run it at any time, but it may need to close from time to time, due to game updates or other unforeseen circumstances.

Please read all details and instructions in the posts below. If you have any questions, please post them in The Official GTP Registry Discussion thread.
Key regulations/rules to note:
  • Do not discuss privately or post publicly any of your splits or final times, or anything relating to this qualifier that would indicate a sector time or a full lap time. By taking part in this qualifier you therefore agree to this very strict ruling.
  • You can only submit ONCE. Be sure you give it your best effort the first time.
  • Only one registered PSN ID per GTP member
  • All previously registered GTP_Registry members must complete this qualifier to remain on the GTP_Registry.
  • You must run this qualifier using the latest version of GT6 (1.03 as of 1/14/14).
  • All submissions must include exported replays from the game to be used for verification. Video replays are not allowed and per point #1 above it is forbidden to post a video replay of your qualifying laps on YouTube or any other video hosting service.

Be sure to set the tires, aids and track settings according to the regulations detailed below for each race. Take special note that both Skid Recovery Force (SRF) and Active Steering (AS) are strictly prohibited. In addition grip reduction on track edge must be set to 'Real' (Default Setting is 'Low'). We are able to verify all of these settings in your replay, and failure to set up the proper regulations will result in a DQ.

Save your best lap ghost replay from both parts of the qualifier as they will be required for all submissions without exception. Read the track limit rules below and be sure to carefully review your replays to verify compliance before submitting your qualifier. If you are not 100% sure your lap is clean, consider it dirty.

:: Two Part Qualifier ::

Both parts of the GT6 Registry qualifier utilize Arcade Mode Time Trials with Courtesy Cars. A major benefit is that the events are accessible without requiring accumulation of credits or significant game progress. The use of Courtesy Cars also eliminates the tuning variable from the qualifier. The cars, courses and tires selected for each combo were purposefully chosen to test different car handling skills.

There is a post dedicated to each combo below with full details, but both qualifiers share the following regulations:

Game Mode:
  • Mode: Arcade Mode > Single Player > Time Trial
  • Course Selection: Combo Specific (see below)
  • Car Selection: Courtesy Car > Combo Specific (see below)
Driving Options:
  • Transmission: Auto or Manual
  • Tires: Combo Specific (see below)
  • Driving Line | Traction Control | ASM | ABS: Optional
  • Active Steering | Skid Recovery Force: Prohibited
  • Tuning: Not available with Courtesy Car
  • In-Race RA Functions: Optional/Allowed
Course Settings:
  • Time: Any
  • Weather: 0% Weather at Race Start | 0 Changeability | 0% Surface Water at Race Start
  • Grip Reduction on Track Edge: Real

:: Rules ::

Standard clean OLR rules apply:
  • At least two tires in contact with track at all times.
    • In situations where contact with the track is not possible because tires are airborne (above the ground), then the run is only legal if at least two tires would have made contact with the track if the car were not airborne.
    • If track contact cannot be 100% determined, then consider it dirty.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the game
  • Anything we haven't thought of that could be construed as cheating
  • Save your replays and include it with your submission
Qualifier Rules:
  • The qualifier MUST be run using your registered PSN Account that you list in the Registry (GTP_Tag is no longer required)
  • Do not discuss privately or post publicly any of your splits or final times, or anything relating to this qualifier that would indicate a sector time or a full lap time. By taking part in this qualifier you therefore agree to this very strict ruling
  • The use of the clutch that is found on the G25, G27, and other high end racing wheels is strictly prohibited.
  • All registered GTP_Registry members must complete this qualifier to remain on the GTP_Registry
Submission:
  • You can only submit one time. Be sure you give it your best effort the first time.
  • To submit your time, start a new conversation with WRSFetchBot (Subject title: GTP_WRS Qualifier)
Provide your PSN ID and country details, exactly like this (case sensitive):

PSN: GTP_EDK
Country: USA

Then attach both 'Best Lap'/'Ghost' replays in zip file form, one file for each replay. It's important that you use one Zip file for each replay, 2 separate Zip files. You will get an automated response within 15 minutes, letting you know whether your submission was accepted, or if you had an error. If you have an error, don't panic. Just review the instructions for submission and submit again. If you are having trouble and cannot figure it out, please post here with your question.

It's very important that you not discuss times or post replay files in the public forums.

A step by step guide can be found here.
Time Verification:

Drivers' submitted replays will be used to verify times and confirm compliance with all qualifier regulations including course and car options, driving aids and track boundaries.

Verification will include manual inspection within the game replay system (and upcoming data analyzer) as well as automated analysis utilizing WRS admin tools.

Replays will be archived permanently and the admins reserve the right to review replays repeatedly in the future (as tools are enhanced) and impose disciplinary action should anything non-compliant be discovered. There is no statute of limitations for skirting the rules.
Optional GTP_PSN Name Tag Format:

We are no longer requiring the GTP_ prefix on PSN names. That said, if you have a GTP_ prefixed account, we encourage you to use it and show your pride for our community.
What Happens Next?

Your division will be determined by your submitted lap times. Please allow for 2-4 weeks from time of submission for your entry to be categorized. Feel free to post in the weekly race threads while you wait for your qualifier to be processed. However, you will not appear in the Splits Leaderboard, and the FetchBot will not accept a submitted lap time until you have been added to the Registry.

All officially processed qualifiers are listed in the Official GTP_Registry (GT6) thread. If you are qualifying after the initial round, keep an eye on the New Drivers and Promotions thread to see your division placement.
You will not receive a PM unless a there is a problem with your submission.

Explanation of the Division System:

The GTP_WRS (Weekly Race Series https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/board/gtp-weekly-race-series-time-trials.117/) contains multiple divisions, with Division 1 being the highest division. Each division will be subdivided in a Gold, Silver and Bronze category.

Based on the time run in the qualifying races, a player is placed in the corresponding division and category. This way players can compare themselves to other players with a similar level of play.

Since the result of the qualifying Time Trials is only one indication of driver skill, taken at a fixed point in time, players will be promoted as they improve, or if the result of the qualifying doesn't display the actual level of the driver.

Only the Racing Admins will decide if a player is eligible for a promotion, on the condition that the player takes part on a regular basis and maintains that higher level of play across multiple weeks.

Terms & Conditions of Registration:

When applying to register, you hereby agree to the following terms & conditions:
  1. You agree to abide by the GTP Rules & Guidelines: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/gtplanet-online-racing-olr-rules-guidelines.111241/
  2. Only one registered PSN ID per GTP member
  3. Anyone found, or attempting to have more than one registered PSN ID will be excluded from all approved GTP events and removed from the official GTP PSN Registry.
  4. By registering you agree to abide to all race rules & driving standards laid out by the hosts of all GTP approved race events.
  5. When using your registered PSN ID in public or private races outside of GTP's control, it is expected that you race to the standard that is deemed acceptable by the hosts of the given event.
  6. You agree not to do anything that can be construed as going against the spirit of the game, either here at the GTP or anywhere outside the domain of GTP.
  7. The Race Admins will evaluate the registration of a player, after having been disqualified from a race for the third time, and subsequently have the right to disqualify this player from the GTP Registry in cases they consider legitimate.
  8. Flagrant violations of the GTP Online Racing Rules & Guidelines may result in exclusion from the GTP Registry.
  9. Most importantly, you are expected to have fun.
Race On!
