    Overview (How Does This Work?):
    • You must be part of our registry to participate.
    • These are Time Trial Events, we have Online Races here.
    • Set the game up according to the event, car and track details below.
    • Save Your BEST LAP replay before exiting your session.
    • Be sure and run cleanly to the end of the first sector after setting your fast lap. If you exit right away, your time stamp may not show up in your replay.
    • Report your split times in here, so you can compare your pace to other racers, without revealing the full lap time. (Note: this is required if participating)
    • Our leaderboard shows how you stack up during the week, before the deadline.
    • Submit your lap via PM to our Fetchbot, before the event deadline.
    • On deadline day, we will publish the results in our leaderboard and in a thread in this section.
    • Identified replays will be checked by your fellow participants to be sure you meet the event regulations.

    • The event MUST be run using your registered PSN account.
    • The use of the clutch is strictly prohibited.
    • Use of the Handbrake is Prohibited.
    • No Contact with walls or other objects. Any contact with walls, no matter how minor, will result in a DQ.
    • At Least 2 Tires must be in contact with track at all times (See image below).
      • In situations where contact with the track is not possible because tires are airborne (above the ground), then the run is only legal if at least two tires in-line would have made contact with the track if the car were not airborne.
      • If track contact cannot be 100% determined, then consider it dirty.
    • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track.
    • No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible.
    • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty.
    • No hybrids.
    • No cheating of any kind, these are relaxed races and we are experienced racers, we know what times can be done, and we can read your mind. We will know.
    • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules.

Race Specifics (Rules for This Specific Event):
    • Red and White Rumble Strips and Tarmac are Track Surface. No other surfaces are track.
    • White Lines denote Track Boundaries except where backed by Rumble Strips.

    Steward's Comments:

Long time participant @Mr P suggested we took another spin in this mighty classic and we had to oblige. Wonderful car in proper setting, enjoy!

Saving Replays, Viewing sector times and Submissions:
    • You need to make sure you use the 'Save Best Lap Replay' (ghost replay), not the 'Save Replay' (See pic below).
    • Before saving your replay ensure that you continue running after completing your fast lap until at least the end of first sector. This will ensure you have a complete replay.
    • To view your best lap replay, go to 'My Library' and watch the replay from there using the 'Replays' option.
    • While viewing your Replay, enter the live timing screen to view your sector splits. You will need to do this after your car has passed the sector markers to see it listed.
    • Simply post the splits that are shown in the live timing screen, and our Fetchbot will parse them and add them together for your total sector time.
    • When saving your fastest lap replay please ensure that you watch the replay to the end and that it displays your full lap time. Any replays submitted that do not show the posted lap time will result in a DQ.
    • Remember - When you submit your time you're also declaring that your run is 100% clean. We request replays for the purpose of verifying to all those concerned that the drivers claim is correct, which in turn safeguards the integrity of the driver, and just as importantly, the WRS. The golden rule is to check your replay before submission. If you’re still unsure, check it again, ask for a second opinion and if you’re still undecided, run the lap again.

    Thread rules:

The following information cannot be discussed in this thread (they can, however, be discussed on Skype or via other private IM service.):
    • Total Lap Time.
    • Any information which can be used to infer your total lap time.
    • If you choose to Share your Best-Lap Replay via GT Sport before the deadline, your full lap time will be considered to be shared publicly which contravenes our rules. Even if you've only shared with Friends.
The following information can be discussed in this thread :
    • The first 2 sectors: T1 and T2 times.
    • Any settings discussion.

    Submission:

All submissions must be sent by PM (Subject title: GTP_WRS Week 149 Submission ) to (WRSFetchbot):
    • Please submit your FULL LAP TIME in the following format on a single line:
      X:XX.XXX
      (Example-) 1:10.100
    • You will get an automated response within 15min, letting you know whether your submission was accepted, or if you had an error.
    • For those of you who were used to submitting replays on GT6, you no longer have the ability to export the files.
    • If you have an error, don't panic. Just review the instructions for submission and submit again. If you are having trouble and cannot figure it out, please post your question in the race thread.
    • Users can ask the bot for the current submitted time by sending a message with the Subject: "GTP_WRS Week 149 Get Entry" and any text in the body.
    • Users can delete their submitted time by sending a message with the Subject: "GTP_WRS Week 149 Remove Entry" and any text in the body.
    • If you want to submit multiple times in the week just reply to the conversation with your new time. Fetchy always uses the last submitted time as the final one.
    • The deadline is Monday, October 5th 2020 11:59pm GMT
    • If you are unsure of the deadline try this site.
    Why Use GMT?:
GMT is World Time and the basis of every world time zone which sets the time of day and is at the centre of the time zone map. GMT sets current time or official time around the globe. Most time changes are measured by GMT. Although GMT has been replaced by atomic time (UTC) it is still widely regarded as the correct time for every international time zone.

    Replay Checking:
    • Division winners and overperformers will be required to submit a replay via the GT Sport Share function for verification AFTER Unofficial Results have been posted.
    • Participants will be expected to check each others' replays for cleanliness, for replays marked in the Results thread as (Replay Verify Required).
    • Video/Youtube/Twitch replays are not accepted as a form of verification.

If you find this combo difficult, just know that our second choice was Nordschleife. It might have made the cut, but this car at high speed over bumps is like doing the unmentionable on a creaky motel bed.

At least here it's only twice per lap, rather than hundreds of times.

Do you guy's and gal's realise this is basically a clone of the testing that was done by Caroll Shelby, and Ken Miles, on the run up to the first attempt at Ford winning Le Mans with the GT40 ??
Also the testing that then killed Ken Miles, after, they 'won' Le mans?

Very historic and poignant. Watch the film, if you haven't already done so.

Though, it has to be said that 3.8m Cr for the car, is a little rich for my blood.

Maybe this should be taken into account when setting up combo's.

If it wasn't for the cost of buying a specific car for the event, more people would race?????

    MHO

There certainly were some test scenes here in the movie.

A lot of them, including Miles' death, were at Riverside Raceway.

The car cost is not within the range we won't consider. Anything much higher and it will not make the list. Certainly not the 20 Million credit unicorns. At this point 3 years in, would rather respond to some requests rather than avoid cars in this range.

Thanks for the info there @EDK , I didn't realise they tested at Riverside also. Are they both in Cali? 'cos the scenery is very similar.
The car is a beauty and if I wasn't chasing credits to buy a unicorn for a specific section of the pro league in career mode, it wouldn't have been a problem to spend them to get this car.
That being said, the average cost of a car-a-week, just to compete seems like it is a little on the expensive side at the moment, and rising. (The obvious exception to the rule is the RX7 that was put round Monza.)
Just saying it certainly, for me, is a consideration when deciding whether to join in or not.

Yes, Riverside was in California as well. It closed in 1989, victim to being too close to the suburban sprawl of LA and therefore on land that was too valuable. When you look up the former address that shows in Wikipedia on Google Maps, this is what you get.

Willow Springs, on the other hand, it's far enough out in the desert that it's not been put at risk.

We are at a point in the game that participation is generally low, and we would like to narrow our focus to some of the best the game has to offer.

So less popular tracks are out of the rotation, and the dregs of the car list as well.

It brakes better than the F40 IMO at least.

Starting this TT with a brand new car, no more garage cars for me unless they have ZERO miles.

Busy week for me and I will likely run this sometime during the weekend.

I was out in California for a business trip in September and October of last year (no trips for me anymore) and the upper desert area of Southern California has grown substantially. Willow Springs may not be safe forever.

This car is a steal at 2.8 mill compared to the unicorns imo... and if you haven't got one after 3 years of this game then you have been missing out :p
I just bought a brand new one for this combo to avoid any problems.. so I have 2 now :D

Great splits posted so far guys! I will make sure to get more laps in and not miss the deadline this week ;)

Edit: Lots of mid turn throttle control with this car.. Here's a T1 vid to show braking and coasting points I use

Use 1st for the uphill at T1 and use 1st again for a tiny blip for the left hander at the bottom of the hill approaching T2 for more speed ;)

Not sure I can get much more out it, this is about as good as I can seemingly do before I start swimming in the sand alot. Shame because I really love this car, just not feeling the same about the track.

Brand new car, zero miles all settings stock and on the right tires, check.

BB -1, not a huge fan of turn 9, and not sure what I am doing wrong in sector 2? May need to shift up to second gear a bit earlier.

Had another session and not really getting anywhere.. made a tiny improvement .009 at the line so just gonna submit this new lap and move on

    25.111
    28.892

Good luck to all in the results

Maybe you are going too deep into the braking zone for the T1 uphill lefty and losing speed.. I brake early there and get on the gas earlier in 1st until I'm changing to 2nd just approaching the top of the hill and its quick up to 2nd and quick back to 1st to adjust for the downhill... might help might not ;) GL mate!

Going to submit these for now and run The AE86 for a bit. May revisit this tomorrow.

Have seen better on both, but tying the lap together is tough.
