GTPbucks?

I noticed on another forum that I visit that they have a hack implemented into VB that gives users virtual money for posts, creating threads etc. Values can be specified by the admin; for example on that site creating a thread is 3 dollars and posting is 1 dollar. User can then use the money to either store in the bank which gives interest (the level of interest can be specified also and also how often interest is applied) or buy things like bold usernames, glowing usernames, changing usernames etc. Is this something that would/could be implemented into GTP premium?

The feature is called Ushop if your interested you can read about it here:

Kind of a cool idea...but what about useless threads and posts....would they all have to be read before the user was credited to make sure it was even worth the credits ? Cause mine are mostly worseless... I would owe gt bucks

No, I don't have any plans to implement the Ushop hack, although specially formatted usernames and the ability to change your username are both planned GTPremium features.

That would suck. So postwhores (like me :D) post in the test forum 100 posts in a day (spamming) get 100$ just for that. LOL!

You can be fined for spamming or have the feature disabled I'm sure.

👍 Sounds Good. Would the changing usernamed be limited to a certain amount of times per billing cycle or a set ammount of times per membership? The reason I ask is that having lots of people constantly changing their usernames could get confusing :scared:

Heh, can we have some sort of a competition in which the prize is like a one year subscription to GTPremium?

GTPremium is on the back burner for now, guys, so I'm not going to make any more decisions or statements about it at the moment. You'll be able to read more about GTPremium in my interview with boombexus appearing in the next issue of the GTP Insider.

Actually they have a test/spam foum too, nothing you do in there gets you any money or post count stats :p

It can't be based on posting and thread creating alone. What I would really like to see on a forum is a system where creating threads / posts that get direct responces gives the original poster credit points. Basically replying to someone's post says you think they post something worth replying to - and that's what building a forum community is all about.

But someone would have to adjudicate the replies. There are a lot of threads that just garner responses of "You suck!" etc.

That's how the karma system works: your threads and posts are rated by every viewer who votes. Of course, it would be cool; of course, it would be a total PITA to administer and to deal with all the complaints and abuses it would generate.

Exactly the reason I don't make use of an otherwise great feature. :grumpy:

Yep it has that too, you can set how many points the thread creator gets per reply ;)

Hmm, that sounds cool, its like a different way of encouraging people to be active more.

That idea I like. I read the first post and thought "Wow...I only have one member on my ignore list right now...I cant imagine how high it would get after that gets implimented...."

I hate your idea skylineGTR_guy.

Virtual bucks to buy bold names, or glowing names, or whatever other features may come?
A virtual bank account to gain interest?

Gotta be one of the dumber suggestions i've seen around here.

At times like these we have to think back and decide what the intention on these forums are. They are to discuss and discuss only. Therefore there is no need for funky looking names, that take away from what the site is. That would turn this place into a "whos got the coolest name" as apposed to whatever the hell it is now.

We have enough useless none-sence spammers here already, so theres no need to add more reason for those.

Your idea gets the 👎 👎 👎

Ok. Now remind me again why I'm supposed to give a rats ass weather you like my idea or not? Your not an admin or moderator, this question was directed towards Jordan. If your ideas are so great then go start your own community. I hardly see how having a bold username would take away from this site. I suppose we should get rid of avatars and signature spaces too right? After all they don't promote discusion either. The idea of special usernames will be implemented anyway

Besides one of the features of the system was that spammers get penalized so no it won't encourage spamming so the reasoning behind your logic is flawed.

I'm not a big fan of it personally.

[hanker] - you could have said something like that instead of posting childish rubbish like "Gotta be one of the dumber suggestions i've seen around here."

I thought hanker's post was the greatest of the past week. Maybe of the past month. You've just been added to my Friend List, hanker. You're the first and most likely last.

I, too, dislike this idea. Everything hanker said is spot on. 👍

If I could block certain signatures, that would be fantastic. For instance, I would like to block all of the signatures in this thread, because they are all poorly done and/or boring to look at.

Actually that would be entertaining...

I'm interested.

Ugh. Jordan already said it ain't gonna happen; he gave a reason too. Those features that could be bought in the "bank" are going to be part of GTP Premium.

I think this discussion is more or less done.
