Nothing here really does it for me, and being an old British family car, it probably doesn't do much to begin with (This is a generalization, I know. If this car's reliability is better than what I'm expecting from it then feel free to correct me.) Anyway, how bout SU for this car.

I doubt driving/owning this car will make you one of the "Cool Kids," even back in its time. This car is pretty boring from the front to the back. I'm calling Uncool on this one. What prevents me from calling "Seriously Uncool" is because its design is okay. It's still quite boring.

That six is transverse, by the way.

I have a fondness for these Harris Mann-penned wedges, but they're very much a guilty pleasure. SU-ssudio.

Massive guilty pleasure of mine, I kinda want a Wolseley model.
But it's incredibily uncool, so SU

There was a special variant of the 2200 HLS called the "Club 100," never marketed to the public, offered as a reward for their top performing dealerships.

To think dealership principals in the Rover Group network only had a Vanden Plas SD1 to hope for. Plebs.

Edit: Fancy a limousine, guv?

I think (and I hope) that in the 70s-80s UK there were better family cars for the middle class.
Nothing on this car catches my attention. It's booooring.
I was going to vote Uncool, but then...

This horrendous rear end changed it to SU.

I find the comments that it looks boring really strange considering it looks like nothing else but each to their own. There was an awful lot to like about the Princess. From a technical point of view it had most rigid structure in its class (in fact it was one of the most rigid cars in the world, full stop). It had 4 pot calliper front brakes and they still stop with impressive authority today. The inline six was transversely mounted. The gas springs made it supremely comfortable. The concealed wiper blades were a rather cool design.

Of course it was let down by build quality issues. The engines were underpowered. The rear light clusters are naff and it lacked the hatchback the designer had originally designed it with.

If I was wealthy, this would be my no.1 car to resto-mod. But even I acknowledge it is not cool. Underrated? misunderstood? maybe but not cool.
