I think its going to be hard to judge this competitions due to some of the Options being gone from GT3 like the steering wheel being gone,I wanted to hear the public's opinions as well as the judges opinion. So how are we going to judge the control of the drift, since some members have videos that are very dark to see the control of the tire?

Without the wheel display, if I'm judging, I try to look at the smoothness of the front wheels to determine the control of the drift. For me, the greater the countersteer I can see, the more angle the drift is in. because the front wheels are parallel with the direction of the traveling drift. This shows me that you are really turning and pushing the car with the trottle. Otherwise I see it as a slide and not a controlled drift. But that doesn't mean you can't score angle, speed, and smoke on a non countersteer drift when I'm judging.

Smoothness and control can be seen with the G-Meter. How consistant the motion is, and how far you push the meter is a pretty good indicator of control ability from varying angles and speeds. But since the DFP opens the option to show the steering wheel, this is really only more of an issue for DS2 users...

Indeed. I forgot to mention the G-meter. 👍

If I were judging I would look at the distance between the smoke coming off the rear wheels compared to the front wheels. Also I would be looking at the exits of the corners a lot. It's just as bad to drift too much of a corner as it is to drift too little. What I mean is, if you're drifting a left hand corner, and you have to turn the car to the right at the exit in order to line it up with the road, it doesn't look very impressive. You should be exiting corners facing the direction you want to be going after the corner.

Of course the G-meter and everything else helps too, but I'm just trying to add some more to the thread.

What if your trying to link a corner like turns 1 and 2 on miday forwards if you wanna link you have to get considerable angle on exiting and then bring the car to the inside ready to feint it back into the linking corner. :sly: Coz sometimes I thhink over drifting a corner is handy 👍 :dopey:

You can still see the wheel if the driver were using a df or DFP. But usually you just look at the line the person is taking and how smooth the transition from grip to drift is.

In that type of situation I would not consider it over drifting, I'm talking about corners like the corner going into the tunnel at Trial Mountain. If you're linking stuff like that then over-drift is certainly neccessary. Sorry for the confusion.

Theres still the Wheel display for people who have the DF or DFP plus you can aslo just look at how the person returns back to grip to see how smooth they are.. All of this has been taken care of in the judging on the upcoming GTPDC's.

The wheel should be disabled because it can/may give away participants that are or aren't know for using DF/DFP.
