GTPlanet 911 - Server Emergencies

Sometimes things go wrong - network outages, denial of service attacks, and server crashes could render GTPlanet offline for hours. Usually I am aware of the downtime, but I can't contact anyone to explain why GTP is suddenly unavailable. So, I have created a new, official MSN Passport for GTPlanet which will serve as secondary lines of communication between me and you in emergencies. If the server goes down, I will log on to MSN Instant Messenger and AOL's Instant Messenger services, where you will then be able to talk with me in real-time about the outage.

If you don't already have the MSN Instant Messenger software, you can download it for free at http://messenger.msn.com/. Once you have the software running, add my emergency address to your contact list. The address is gtplanet_911@hotmail.com.

If you're an AOL Instant Messenger user and you don't want to download MSN Instant Messenger, you can still contact me with the screen name gtplanet911.
 
I love the idea. I guess that will give me a reason to use MSN Messenger now.
 
Umm Jordan can you do at with AIM too? like the same SN, cause I don't have MSN messanger(my bro does, but I never use it cause he has all of his Mazda guys on there and they keep on talking to me like I'm him...)and I think that AIM would help also...

No, but it's bound to happen from time to time - I just want to be prepared. I may be doing some work on the server, too, and I'm not the best server administrator... :D

Well, I don't have AIM, and I've never used any AOL service at all. Do you have to be an AOL customer?

No AIM is free to everyone and after all most of the people i talk to on here use AIM anyways. :D
 
I see, thanks for letting me know, Nocturnal! AIM users can now contact me at the screen name (...suprise, suprise) gtplanet911. :) I have also added this screen name into my profile, so you can quickly add me to your buddy list by clicking on the AIM icon in the lower left-hand corner of my posts.
 
I gotta question for ya Jordan, are you ever gonna be on MSN or AIM when the site is not down??
 
Well if he was on AIM when the forums are running, then everyone will be IMessaging him and he'll have about 20 different conversations going on!

As for me, i'm always on either MSN or AIM when i'm on the Net.
 
Mustang-same here, I'm always on AIM...well I don't have AIM I have AOL instant messager that is part of AOL...it's always on if I'm on the net...
 
I will just say that I have added you to my AIM list as well. I am sure many others will, too! I remember the one time that you had the denial of service attack that caused an outage. I figured that maybe maintenance was being done, so I didn't worry that much. But after 2 days, I was appalled at the absence of GTPlanet. Keep up the great thinking!!! :thumbsup:
