Hi again, GT Planet.

I'll make my introduction short.

This topic is for racing fans to recall their favorite races, most memorable races... all in ANY FORM OF RACING. Whether it's go-karting, tractor pulling, drag racing, oval track, DTM, JGTC, World Rally, Le Mans... you got a race you remember well? Talk about it here. Tell us why that race is one of the best. What were some of the big names in the event? I don't think I can recall any, but I'll try.

Race Track: Michigan International Speedway; Brooklyn, MI, USA
Year: 1999
Series Race: CART (Championship Auto Racing Teams)

I can recall 1999 at Michigan. Max Papis was leading the race and was on his way to an impressive victory. He was doing so well in the event. But on the last lap, all he had to do was hold out for 2 more miles. He was out of fuel, and I think there was some communication problems with Papis in his Miller Lite Ford that year at that race. On his radio, he was crying. And I don't blame him. Meanwhile, Michael Andretti and Juan Pablo Montoya went at it for the race win. JPM was close, but Andretti denied him by a short distance.

Consider this an ESPN Classic channel of races. This is a chance for race fans to share their favorite race moments.

I remember the 2002 Bob jane t-mart's 1000(Bathurst) and Mark skaife's car had plastic bag's in thefront air intake and yeah, his car wasn't doing well, It happend to some one elses car forgot who's.

The last race of WSBK in 2002 when it was Bayliss verses Edwards. I had a hoarse voice from shouting come on Hodgey, but it was still a great race. So many moves, so close to the limit, three passes on one corner, black lines, sidways, stoppies into corners. Jeez. What a race.

I remember seeing Xaus try and keep up with a broken gearchange to help Baylis win, but he was soo sideway. ****ing hell, that race was good. An I have it on a very poor quality video!

I salute you JohnBM01 for mentioning that particular CART race, I won't be forgetting it anytime soon either. Amazing drama at the end of that one.
I have the 2000 (or is it 2001?) Surfer's Paradise CART race taped. The one where DeFerran and Juan Pablo clipped into one another at the very first turn of the race. From then on it was one of the craziest races CART ever held. Servia did some damage that day, ask Paul Tracy after he slammed into the wall at the chicanes.
The commentators back then were fantastic too, that really helped.

In WRC, I liked the 2nd place battle between Solberg and Burns in Finland last year.

In SCCA, I loved that one race where 2 Celicas and a 350Z were duking it out. The Z was in front with like 5 turns to go then got passed by the Celicas, at the second-last turn the Celicas took each other out in the silliest manner and then came the 350 strolling to take the checkers. Hilarious. 👍

As I keep on mentioning, 1995 Le Mans for me is my first choice 👍
It was my first Le Mans 24hours i went to. I was only very young. There were sooo many things which made it phenominal.
The grid for starters:
McLaren F1
Prosche 911 GT2's n Joest Porsche prototypes
Ferrari F40 n 333sp
Lister Storm
Venturi LMP600
Courage LMP
Peugoet LMP
Jaguar XJ220C
Marcos LM600
Callaway Corvette CR5 (or something similar)
Corvette Z1
Honda NSX
Mazda Kudzu's
Toyota Supras
Nissan Skylines...I could go on......
Then the drivers:
JJ Lehto
Mario Andretti
Derek Bell
Win Percy
Berrand Gauschaut
All sports car legends.
The race was very very close. It was tense action all the way through with a mix of weathers. For a brit it was a grate atmosphere especially with a british car winning.
A GT1 car managed to beat the LMP's out right, which wasn't expected again after the year before when Porsche severly bent the rules with their Dauer 962.
The sounds were phenominal.
Plus it was the 24hours.
Eesh i want bore you guys with the rest of it, but it was amazing.

Also the 1996 F1 finale at Suzuka, when Hill won the race and the championship. Simply for the fact that he became 1996 F1 world champion.

Some of the races (non specific at goodwood revival), seeing old Ferrari 250 GTO's going up against Cobra coupe's in full anger powersliding around the corners.
