Getting the latest GT news in picture/text format is quick and great, but I think it'd be awesome if there was a GTPlanet Show that runs down the latest news, but with a bit more personality. And the show could have more humorous, just-for-fun segments as well as providing general tips/tutorials on a variety of topics.

The only thing I see holding back the idea is that it's time-consuming and could be costly. Or perhaps Jordan and the other bigwigs of GTPlanet have awful personalities that nobody would enjoy watching.

...Maybe combine it with Forza content so it'll be 2 shows in one to help justify the expense. :p

Anyone else think this would be cool?

I like the idea. It can be a bit like the GT Magazine, only a bit harder to develop.

Good idea, not going to be easy pulling off. I thought about this the other day.

I'd be down for that. Call it "The 'Planet Perspective" or something.

The whole concept seems a bit unrealistic to me as just about every post states, but if they were to make a show of some sort it would most likely be a youtube show, and a new video would be released in increments of time, for example once a week or once every two weeks. It would be similar to something like (for lack of a better example)The Philip DeFranco show in the way it runs. I don't imagine it would cost a whole lot of money...
Thinking about it again it actually doesn't seem like such an unrealistic idea. All we would need is a trusted and respected member/members of GTPlanet interested in producing the show and the support from Jordan to make the show "The official youtube channel/show of GTPlanet."
I mean, who says Jordan and only Jordan are allowed to do this kind of stuff? Jordan is willing to accept work from members as he has shown in the past.

A bit unrealistic? We're not talking about funding a "GTP" space vessel or anything like that. It's a video (or podcast), and what posts were you reading that stated the same?

O RLY?

Off the top of my head? It's his site and thus requires his permission?

That's just me, but I've been wrong before.

It depends on how extensive to me. I'd imagine the Show would be almost like Top Gear, to be honest. But many other people would picture the Show's real concept in a different perspective.

If the Show would receive official sanctions, it must receive the permission from Jordan. Otherwise it'll run as a fanfic-like manner.

We've had podcasts before, for the Photomode community during GT4 (though they weren't official GTP ones, they were community-driven).

It certainly could be possible, as a weekly or twice-a-month quick summary of all the news. The problem I see is redundancy - if it were to be posted on the blog, wouldn't all the news mentioned already, er, be there :p

Then again, it could always encompass more than just those blog-worthy tidbits...

I think that such think is possible and actually plausible, if we consider that is not only GT centric, but rather Racing game centric which can make such thing work.

Sounds awfully similar to the Inside Sim Racing concept, but it might work.

It could touch on blog news but also highlight quality discussions in the forums. Another idea would be to show quick highlights of well run leagues plus WRS event highlights. Who wouldn't love to see their driving appear in video? I for one would love to see highlights of the upcoming 24 hour online race in February.

If you read my whole post you would see that is what I said. But thats fine if you would rather just be sarcastic instead.

I actually thought up the idea while watching Hak5, but yeah... something similar to Inside Sim Racing, but much more GT/Forza-centric. Great ideas, guys... it should definitely cover the community stuff like the WRS and photomode competitions.

It could have a tutorial segment which could cover anything from tuning to taking good photographs to livery editing in Forza...

This site is dedicated to just one game, it's not like other sites like Insidesimracing. With focus just on Gran Turismo, there may not be enough material to warrant doing "shows"... hell, even ISR runs out of material sometimes.

That's without mentioning that GT is on the PS3, which is not as flexible as a PC. You can forget about telemetry software reviews, hardware reviews like button boxes or stand alone shifters, Handbrakes, trackIR and the like. PS3 just doesn't support them.

Given the scarce news content and far-apart GT5 updates/DLC, what would the show be about, then? OCD and Seasonal events updates?

Unless we cover rumors and quality posts from around the board, and have people send in stuff like the magazine.

It wouldn't just be GT. It would be primarily focused on GT and Forza, but that doesn't mean it can't touch on other racing games from time to time.

And as already stated, it wouldn't necessarily be just a news show... News would just be a segment of it. Could have anything from car reviews, segments on driving techniques, tips on how to Gold certain license tests and events, and/or Forza livery showcases.

To combat that this podcast could talk about a lot more details about GT. Details that the regular sim game fan may not care about, but are of interest to the more hardcore fans of Gran Turismo. And you could focus a bit more on GTP itself. Perhaps something like what the GTP's star in a reasonably priced car thread. There could be interviews with more prominent members of the site, as someone said earlier there could be guides for tuning and photomode and every aspect of GT all powered by the GTP community.

One of the other things is frequency, If a monthly show is done then there would be enough time to the prepare content and gather information to the show, Inside Sim Racing runs out of content because they make shows very frequently.

Besides ISR doesn't actually touch any topic related to Edition/Tuning/Photomode and such, which is a lot of content when you get down to it. Apart from that, some handy guides and other information can be broadcast there too.

Both GT and FM, including some other games like Shift or IRacing can be topics on the show, for me it appears to be enough content for a show each 15 to 30 days.

A gtp twist on topgear would be fantastic. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

what about a YouTube channel with different interviews, videos of gtp users etc etc... :)

I like this idea. Could it actually be pulled off though?
It's easy to get excited about these sorts of things, but quite another to turn them into reality and execute them well. It would be fun, but I don't have time to create or produce anything like this myself. That said, we have had community-led podcasts organized here before, and I'd be happy to see new projects form here again in the future.
