As this is an Enduro round and to help everyone get the race done the number of laps for the race will be 43.

Did a nice lap, but got a RWOD upon exiting, so no splits. I'm going with aids off and Manual, and it's making me a lot faster.

I'll be the first to post up some splits then:

T1 43.525
T2 1'19.259

Still time left on track but this isn't my favourite circuit.

And I'll be the second to do so.

Toyota GT-ONE: 42.620 - 1'17.987
Ford GT LM Spec II Race Car: 46.936 - 1'25.914

I like this track in some cars, but when a car (like any LMP ) has way too much grip, I really don't like it at all. :yuck: Both of these were done within three completed laps, and I'll wait until others post splits to see if I want to try to improve.

Unfortunately, I will be on vacation over the exact span of the final round (we leave very early Monday and return late Sunday two weeks later - in this time zone, the races are up Monday morning and the deadline is at 6 pm), which is a shame, because I think I would have had a good chance to win at Fuji. :banghead: If I do well here, I will lock up second place, but any outside chance I had at taking the championship is long gone. That isn't to say I ever had a chance in the first place, though.

I havnt tried this yet, but I also enjoy this track. Sad I have to drive it with such a heavy car, but it will still be fun none the less.

Sucks you wont be able to participate in the final round of whats been a very close championship between you and I Austin. I dont know, maybe if you ask ABud real nicely he'll find it in his heart to give you the number of laps for the final round early so you can get it all done before you leave?

T1: 43.583
T2: 1'19.178

Still some more time to gain...

The outcome of the championship was really never in doubt, east, so this won't have any real impact. The problem with your suggestion is that I'll be leaving before the results from this race are posted, so I won't know what weight settings to use.

Ah, your right, I forgot about the weight penalties. You would of still had a chance of winning though if you were able to race Fuji, we are only 8 points apart and there is a racer in the field who is capable of taking points away from me in both Qualifying and the race there.

Anyway, my splits:

42.780
1.18.155

Dont know if I can go faster than this, but i'll probably give it another shot since its Suzuka and its fun :)

Actually, ABud PMed me to say that I could do Fuji (with a 5% weight penalty) and gave me the number of laps, so I will get to finish after all. There's no way you'll score few enough points there and here for me to even tie, so again, the outcome will be unaffected.

I have new splits, too, and almost certainly my final ones, although they're far from perfect:

Toyota GT-ONE: 42.494 - 1'17.718
Ford GT LM Spec II Race Car: 46.538 - 1'25.557

Initial splits. Lots of little stuff to improve on. Will see if I can put it in one lap.

Bentley Speed 8: 45.054 - 121.773

Ford GT: 48.948 - 129.101

Well, it’s official. My MT driving career is over. At least for the near term. It’s funny how just up and downshifting can aggravate my slight carpal tunnel condition. Was noticing some discomfort during the last 6 months or so. Holding the x button for long periods of time, i.e. Sarthe. So I learned all over with the right analog. Which for me is much more sensible.

Actually these splits are with MT after only about 2 hours of play. But the stupid repetitive stuff with the index fingers was starting to really hurt.

Doc said I had a couple of choices.

1. Surgery – not an option in my book. Who wants to walk around looking like a Praying Mantis for weeks. And how do you wipe your **** properly.
2. Therapy exercises. And nothing that aggravates it. MT?

Looks like 2 is the choice.

AT doesn’t bother me. Thumbs still work great. Diff motion. And I can still use the occasional L2, R2 buttons. Much talk of staying out of the lower gears to reduce wheel spin. 1st and 2nd. Still can do that with L2, R2 on the tight corners if I want. And I will still get great satisfaction when I beat all of you someday. LOL.

? I know that taking TCS off while driving MT makes the car quicker. Abud, you mentioned it in an earlier GTPLMS thread. Does the same go for AT? I’ve tried it both ways and the car seems to corner quicker without TCS, especially on the tight ones like the hairpin after T1 and Casio. So that’s how I’ve been driving the last day.

As always, thanks for any input and see you guys and at the track.

If you haven't done this already, try a supplement with glucosamine, chondroitin, and msm. It helps me with my minor carpal tunnel and the cardio/strength training I do. Also, the hand exercises do help slightly. If all else fails, there's always the wheel.

First decent splits...:indiff:
T1:47.855
T2:1'27.185

On the subject of TCS, i find that it adds just a small amount of understeer to the car when cornering and also acceleration can be reduced. Having said that i'm using TCS for my Audi R8 as at that power it makes things easier.

Laid off the weights the last 2 years. Need to get back. Maybe I'll buy the wheel for my boys to play Need for Speed. LOL. Gee honey, I got the wheel for the boys. Thanks for the meds.

Ran a race already in the Bentley. Except at the start and when I dropped into 2nd or 1st (which was rarely) I was able to control it. It was interesting the first 10 or so laps. Skittish is the feeling I would describe.

? When off the track i.e. grass/sand and you have the wheel spin. How much more if any tire wear occurs? I know this could be found in the other threads but it is related to the races, isn't it.

I was having a terrific run at the race in GTS when, on lap 35 (an inlap) I caught the GT-R Concept at the hairpin, where its stupidly early braking and very short stopping distances conspired for me to hit it. I got a penalty for it, which meant I couldn't make a pit stop and had to do another lap with worn tires and what I thought was too little fuel to make it around. But that wasn't all: the Panoz and McLaren were side-by-side entering the hairpin, producing a roadblock, and I couldn't avoid tapping the Panoz. Guess what? The autodrive pitted me with another penalty right as I ran out of fuel. Race over. :banghead: It will be quite a pain to have to do the 1 1/2 hour race again, especially considering that it's so hard to get past the AI cleanly and without the CLK-GTR drilling me in the rear at 130R on lap 3. :irked:

oldmodelt, when you're using LMPs or similar cars without TCS, don't use first or second gear unless you're stopped, either at the start or after a spin. And even then, use second and not first. Unless you're slowing down to 25-30 mph in hairpins, staying in third gear is almost always faster because feathering the throttle and having to change an extra gear cost quite a bit of time. You do get more tire wear when your wheels are spinning, but you will only notice the difference in wear when you're wheelspinning almost every lap.

Thanks for all the tips guys. Ouch! Austin343, I had similar exp on lap ?? coming out of the pits. Was trying to take first turn and punted by car deep into the sand and the wall but luckily was able to spin so impact with wall was taken in the rear and didn't get the PP.

Update. Submitted times. Good .75 to 1.0 sec still left in the Bentley but couldn't get it all in one lap.

Good to see you'll be able to do the final race Austin :)

Just sent my times in with these splits:

42.716
1.17.995

Good luck all 👍

I've not managed to improve my splits so i'm going to be slooooow here. Also just done a race run because im away from tomorrow till sunday and it was awful, reckon i ended up on the grass at least 20 times! Back of the field here i come

Us in the back can only hope. LOL. Seriously. On my 1st try in the Bentley I had a 9/3 ratio. That is 9 minor offs and 3 major. Minor is a couple of secs. Major is more than 5 a lap. Misery loves company. In the GT was going good until I tried to scratch an itch and slammed into the wall before T2. Penalty. Then another a couple of laps later.

That happens all the time to me, too! Usually, though, when I think the car is going straight enough to stay on track for the moment without steering but it actually isn't, the car takes a harmless trip through grass. I guess I know enough to avoid doing so in dangerous points on the track. :nervous:

I'm glad I could turn my weight advantage into another pole position, but I still very much doubt I can hold off east in the race.
