40 laps of the twisty and tight walled Cote d'Azur circuit is going to be a real challenge, but to make things that much harder we have to negotiate the moving chicanes that are GT4's AI! This will be a real test of nerve and skill, who can pull it all together for a very high pressure race? The championships are all still close and a lot will ride on this round, so start your engines everyone and the very best of luck!

Please don't discuss total race times or lap times. You may discuss stategies if you wish though.

General Information and Regulations

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by GTPLMS sanctioning body, GTMSA. Any and all questions should be directed to GTMSA officials (ABud or oldmodelt) and officials will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manner.

All drivers must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by GTMSA for each round. Horsepower and/or weight settings are adjusted for competitive reasons each round based on finishing positions from previous rounds.

IMPORTANT
For this season the track is defined as the area between the parallel white/yellow lines (see image below). This means that rumble strips no longer count as track.

• Standard Online Racing Rules Apply.
• No Cheating, hybrids, etc. You must run the car specifications I give you
• Try keeping at least 2 wheels on course. Long races = small mishaps, but absolutely NO shortcuts
• No wall-riding as well. Combined with penalties, this will slow you down considerably, so don't do it.
• All decisions by GTMSA officials are final

• AI at +8, +4 for GT1
• AI tyres RS

• ASM is prohibited TCS is optional
• Points for race: 10-8-6-4-2-1
• 2 points for finishing within 103% of race winning time
• 1 points for finishing outside 103% of race winning time

I just ran the race and managed to keep it pretty clean, with five or so wall contacts and two light AI contacts (once when I misjudged the length of the Panoz's nose, and once when the F1 GTR was spun sideways out of my sight between the two apexes of the last hairpin on the very last lap), and all were light enough to avoid penalty. My consistency was only middling, but I was pretty happy with the pace given that I wasn't pushing very hard. I took an educated guess and drove the whole race on medium tires; I thought that the magnitude of the wheelspin and the difficulty of passing would just be too great on hard tires, and I knew that pit stops don't take long here. However, given that they lasted only five laps (and even then, only at a stretch; they were very dark orange when I pitted), I think I'll retry with hard tires, presumably in five seven-lap stints with a five-lap stint on medium tires to round off the race distance. It's interesting, although not surprising, that this race takes nearly as long as La Sarthe despite how much shorter it is in distance.

Got my LMP race in. After 3 trys. Last one after I had 3 DTP's in the first 5 laps. Just took my time and waited for them to start to pit.

My first (serious) attempt at this race was going quite well until a McLaren decided to hit my Viper instead of using the brakes at the Nouvelle Chicane. The next lap when I had to pit for tyres, the McLaren spun between La Rascasse and the pit entry, which meant I had to serve another drive through penalty and run a lap on red rear tyres.

On another note, I think one of these "Secret Overtake Buttons" would be very useful in dealing with the GT4 AI around the Monaco track

GT1 run finished also. Just took my time. Finished second with a few non - DTP bumps. Just figured I was like the old guy in the Mercedes/Cadillac/Jaguar on the expressway you pass and he's doing 50mph. Why you ask? Because he can.

Think this'll be a standard feature on all tin-top racecars effective for the 2011 season onwards? Also, methinks Murph has been playing rFactor quite a lot between races recently.

If I had a choice of what horn to have installed in my virtual race car, I'd choose the one that is used in Jaleco's Big Run arcade game.

I tried the hard tires, and it was clear that they were just too slow (you get wheelspin in about three-fourths of the corners, and passing was substantially more difficult because of the reduced acceleration on exit), so I'm submitting now. Good luck to everyone, especially since most of you are facing a harder-to-pass AI field than mine. 👍

Tough last few days doing this and also having Dental issues.
The main trouble with Dental problems is they hurt twice - the cost ! and the fact all Dentists are sadists.

Having said that, the Dentistry was less painful than this Race.
I am just glad it is over.

Two very tough races, but I felt that my races were close to what I would expect when trying hard to eliminate DTP's.

I did not have too much trouble with the AI, it was the walls and turns that caused problems!

Actually the AI behaved rather well since they could not drive off into the sand and then come back on the track sideways! I really only had one problem with the AI when the Gillet Vertigo was on its final lap before a pit stop and it tires were gone. It was weaving all over the track and its tires were smoking. I just squeezed by without getting hit.

Added: I remembered another close call: I executed a nice clean pass on the inside of the Panoz at Rascasse, only to see it cut across my back bumper and enter the pits. If it had turned in a fraction of a second earlier, we would have come to tears!

Boy its tough to get my Nissan R390 thru the Loews hairpin. Someone should talk to the track management and get it widened!

I managed to work through traffic pretty quickly and somehow run the first 30 laps pretty well. At that point the race deteriorated with 3 DTP's all from hitting objects when the controls slipped out of my hand.

I almost posted a DNS after drilling a 3/8" hole through my thumbnail Wednesday (ya, after breaking two fingers three weeks ago).

I had never driven the joy stick before. I don't really care for them but it saved my hide this round if I salvage any points. Put a golf-ball sized wad of tape on your thumb and give it a whirl. pretty comical.

You guys got of easy this week Ill be back.

I wonder myself sometimes . I have been doing my craft for 35 years so it's a bit late for a change.

Congrats to all finishers, not an easy race at all though I did actually really enjoy it 👍

I'd also like to take this opportunity to congratulate myself for winning the LMP championship for a second time Was a shame I won by a DNF from East though.

I too, as we have discussed before enjoyed this track. I am pleased with I think, my first podium. But would rather have finished much lower with 5 or 6 more guys running. Hopefully we can get a crowded field for what might be the last GTPLMS race for GT4. Who knows what will happen after GT5 comes out. Congrats to ABud, Austin343 for beating me in my LMP car with the Panoz. And to GTsail290 in the GTS. Off to Infineon.
