Welcome to the GTPLMS

Round 8: Castrol Presents the Grand Prix of Trial Mountain

TrialMtnTrackMap.jpg

Round 8
Track: Trial Mountain - 2.47 miles (3.98km)
Deadline: December 21 @ 5p CST (GMT -6)

***Important Series Information***
I have decided to omit Autumn Ring from the schedule. As some of you might know, I took administration of this series over from m.piedgros before the season started, and I am using his schedule of events for this year. But after careful consideration and a lot of fore-thought, I've decided to drop the Autumn Ring event from the GTPLMS schedule for this season. The reasoning will become apparent as soon as the racers realize that without Autumn Ring they will be getting Petit LeMan over Christmas Holiday and the Monterrey Sports Car Championship over New Years, giving (hopefully) plenty of time to get these long races in.

Welcome Racers to Trial Mountain and Round 8 of the GranTurismo Planet Le Mans Series. With only 3 rounds left in the competition, points are becoming crucially important for all teams, both in Drivers and Manufacturers championships.

Trial Mountian will test the drivers nerves as well as skill. How close can I get to that cliff face? How late can I brake and still make this hard left? Is there something over this blind hill that I can't see? All of these questions and more face the drivers each and every lap around Trial Mountain, with nothing but their cars, crews, and luck to guide them.

I have decided to omit Autumn Ring from the schedule.
YAY! Piss-ant piddly little track!
As some of you might know, I took administration of this series over from m.piedgros before the season started
Phew! (start humming 'Grease is the word', and substitute a word that describes someone obsessive and 'pinickety' for the word grease)
The reasoning will become apparent as soon as the racers realize that without Autumn Ring they will be getting Petit LeMan over Christmas Holiday and the Monterrey Sports Car Championship over New Years, giving (hopefully) plenty of time to get these long races in.
Good thinking there buddy!

How about an 'Invitational, Parade round' as a finale?

5 laps of the ring!

Open to anyone who would like to compete, no points, but BIG bragging rights!

Just an idea!

Neil

Interesting ideas, but i HATE the fact that EVERYONE throws Nring into EVERY series out there. Yes it's popular, yes, it's long and sometimes fun, but come on. Plus, they stopped racing there in prototypes for a reason, no thank you, i'm not going to race my Dyson or my Intersport there. not a chance. MAYBE the snake, MAYBE the M3. We'll see i guess.

Really? Says the guy who put the Nurb into his new SCCA Touring Car series... lol, I'm just messing with you. I have tommorow off so you may see a first time entrant in the series this weekend! :sly:

I know I know! but with the "slower" cars, it's a fun drive, but the higher the HP, the less fun that track seems (to me) to be...that's why Fuji and Sarthe I are my two faves.

Sarthe is a big time fave of mine. I had exams almost at the deadline (first exam was a couple days after) of the 24 Laps, so you can imagine how busy I was... and how pissed I was to not even get on the track.

m.piedgros

Crikey Moses!

The MacLaren is a complete nightmare round this track!

Drew, who the bleeding hell picked this car anyway?

Oh right! That would have been me! Ooops!
(It was very good round Le Sarthe where I tested for car choice, honest!)

I can only get 5 1/2 laps out of medium rears! Barely 8 out of RM fronts/RH rears!:guilty:
And then it's as twitchy as a Kracker that's been on a 6 day bender. Haven't managed to do more than 15 laps without a major incident (usually the rears letting go too much in the corners, with a snap-back spin in the opposite direction or in biker parlonse, a bloody big high-side!).

Given myself a headache from the three hours of constant high concentration levels. Taking a break for the night.
Last night of the pool season before the hol's, so going for a well deserved pint of Guiness in my new 'Friends of the Guinless' ltd edition tankard.

Well in half an hour anyway!:sly:

Neil

wow, everyone must be dead (except for Ballstothewall). I gotten my qualifying times done. today I race. hopefully I'm a winner again.

Edit: I have just sent in my times. I absolutely enjoyed Trial Mountain. I was able for the first time this season to pull off a one stop-race just on hard tires.

Don't know what to say, guys.

Had a migrane for the last 36 hours, and can hardly bare to look at the monitor to write this.
Needless to say I haven't managed more than a vain attempt at these races when the pills have lifted it a little, but I just couldn't concentrate for long enough to get more than 3 or 4 laps in a row.

If it lifts over-night and tomorrow I will do some last-ditch driving.

But if it doesn't I am afraid I will have to let everyone down, and DNS for the first time in about a year.
Sorry Drew!
Sorry Chris!

I really hope it lifts, I hate letting people down!

that explains why I haven't see you here that much. I hope you feel better.

One option is to have your co-driver do the race for you Neil. BOB can give you the points if you want. won't be competitive, but you'd still get some points.

OK, times sent to Shotgun.:)

For this round, I decided on doing 2 things...
  1. Two Pit-stop strategy
  2. Drive like a nut.:scared:
Hopefully, it'll give me a decent place in the final standings for the race. ;)

I have sent my time in the morning to Chris, only the RX-8...
Pitted once on RH's,any other way to do one pit is impossible with this car.(We all know that RSH's are forbidden...)Not to fast I think but there are no failures,no contact and had a great 1st lap,I ate the whole branch until the 2nd tunnel...First time that I enjoyed racing in the RX since Mid-Field.👍

Thankfully the migrane has lifted slightly, and the painkillers managed to give me enough time to complete the races this morning, and after some time off for rehab (and more painkillers), the qualifying tonight.

Managed a one stopper in the RX (8+9) on RM/RM's, but there was abosolutely no way to do the same in the MacLaren. Even RH rears were burned by 7 3/4 laps, so opted for a 2 stop RM/RM race (the RM rears only just lasted the 5 3/4 laps needed to keep the pace up)

Quali was wierd!
The only stable config for the MacLren was RS/RSS! Anything else was too twitchy to cope with the bumps.:ouch:
The RX was, as usual a dream to drive in the race, but again was a little twitchy on RSS/RSS. But I did manage to get what I think is a good-ish lap in.

These cars just aren't meant to be driven round tracks this bumpy!

Anyway,

Times on thier way to Chris ASAP!

Don't know whether to try out the JGTC quali round SSR5, or install Battlefield 2142 and start waging war?

Neil

OK, judging by not only the times sent in, but the reactions of those that sent times, I'm willing to do this:

If it's the consensus of the group, give a 24 hour EXTENSION to the deadline, making it 5p cst Dec 22. I know I could use the extra time, and others could as well (Andy, get that GTS race in). I'll await the replys and posts. If you want to re-submit, you can do that as well, it's OK. I will take all PM time submissions, and keep them seperate, if the majority rules in favor of an extension, I'll take the times, if against, then there will be no times accepted after the 3 hour "penalty" deadline.

Let me know. Chris

Did you get my pathetic times then Chris?

Sorry if they are below par, but they are honestly the best I could manage.
My head is chock-full of burned out neurons, and my attention span is about that of a retarded goldfish!

*EDIT*
Got to say, that if the deadline is extended, then my times will stand!
I know that this is a busy time of year, and that we all have more pressing things to do.

So my vote, if it counts for anything is......................

That the deadline should be extended (for the greater good of the series), but those utilising the extension should be subject to an arbitary penalty.
I have suffered, struggled, self-medicated myself into imbecility, raced when I didn't really feel like it, pushed myself to the point of giving up because I just couldn't see a way of completing the task or getting the performance I wanted/knew I could get/knew I should have got

No offense guys, honestly! But If I could do it when I could barely look at a TFT screen?
Neil

Even as hindered as my dear mate is,
his vervbosity is unsurpassed by none :)

Sorry to hear you are ailing mate :(
but I do tend to agree with you 👍
deadlines, are just that

while I hate my race time....
I also hate the aspect of being bald !

cant do a damn thing about either of them

you are a funny sod mate :)

Why, thank-you mate!
The combination of paracetamol, de-congestants, muscle-relaxants, getting the puppy to sleep beyond 6.30am (3/4 hr before I have to make the missus a cuppa, b4 kicking her out to work (he,he, concidering I work from home!)), the complete and total knowledge that a £100 voucher to the best local 'Knicker-shop' will not only be a damn good Christmas prezzie, but give me a very pleasant 'feastive season' too, is helping to ease my pain!

Hint, Hint! to the 'less than experienced' guys!
Give a good voucher to the girlfriend, she then can pick the 'outfit' she likes, and as a by-product you can enjoy twice the pleasure cos she has chosen the underwear to please you!

Neil

Dels times sent .. though ive not had a spare minute all week .. the Nissan crashed so its missing this round .

I'm away for the next 9 days .. taking the GOLF V5 GTI for a 5 hour drive up the coast for lots of golf swimming and fishing .. with some LED ZEPPLIN and GT4 mixed in when time permits .

MERRY XMAS EVERYONE ! .. FROM DEL DOWNUNDER

ps .. my phone line has crashed { the whole street has no use of their phone } .. but will be up and running in the new year

To those of you that care (or noticed), the question of deadline extension was posed...and for the people that returned comment, the consensus was that NO DEADLINE EXTENSION be permitted. So I'll get results up tonights, and there will be some penalties (for myself included) I'll get these done as soon as I can.

Nice one Cyril!
Ahem!
Chris!

Sorry, British humour! :)
See the song titled "Nice on Cyril"
Lyrics
'Nice one, Cyril,
Nice one, son!
Nice one, Cyril,
Let's have another one!'
etc,etc
