Welcome to the GTPLMS

Round 9: Petit Le Mans presented by

Fuji2005GTTrackMap.gif

Round 9
Track: Fuji 2005 GT - 2.84miles (4.544km) (oops)
Deadline: January 4th @ 5p CST (GMT -6)

Fuji International Raceway plays host to Petit Le Mans, one of the most storied events in GTP LMS competition. Petit Le Mans is one of the measuring sticks that LMS teams use to judge themselves and each other.

Fuji has changed drastically since the last time LMS visited. The biggest changes that drivers will notice is the very tight, twisting triple-hairpin section leading onto the main straight, cutting exit speeds by roughly 50-75mph depending on class. The other major improvement is that almost all of the run-off areas have been paved, giving the driver a much safer area and a greater chance of safely returning to the course.

BOB will be making his return to LMS competition this week. As this is another endurance race, BOB will be expected to run a minimum of 4 laps for the LMS drivers. Please note this in your race strategies this week drivers.

Petit Le Mans will also be a DOUBLE POINTS EVENT. Drivers and Manufacturer Championships are shaping up, but with Petit Le Mans being worth double points, anything can happen.

Entry List with Points shown below

Del is not sure if he can get his times in by the 28th { will be away and not sure if i get internet access } .. so is asking for a deadline of the 1st or 2nd Jan ?

I have never liked this course. its not a flowing track, its nearly impossible to find a rhythm, and its so tight almost everywhere. this will be a very difficult race for me, but I'll do what I do best, which is Drive the holy s--- of this race and hope for victory. my driver Jorg is back and ready to go.

A question for Shotgun. Since we got B-spec BOB for this round, is he allowed to use SuperSoft tires for his stint on the track?

No, he is allowed SOFT tires or harder ONLY. no RSS or RSH allowed in LMS Competition. Good question though, thanks.

Chris

PS, i'm extending this deadline. It's a long race, and 1 weeks isn't enough time for it, especially this week. sorry deadline-sticklers, but this is for everyone.

Thanks Chris for the extension, there's just so much stuff going on this time of year.

No problem Andy. I was thinking that myself too. I wouldn't have had a chance at a full 4-class run this week w/o an extension, and judging by the entries from the last race, neither would anyone else.

I have gotten bank-races in for GT, GTS, and P2. This track is a lot different than Fuji 90's, but i think i'm beginning to like it. I know the M3 doesn't like that long straight, but she feels like she's on rails in the switchbacks.

That Viper really bites me there, but the faster sections are nice. I took an abandoned McLaren out (PitwrkzZ Motorola McLaren) and I don't know how you guys drive those things...they're brutal in my hands. I salute you for being able to wrestle those.

Delfino's got his work cut out for him in P2 though, as my 'rolo is REALLY hooked up. (watch me eat my words!).

Off to do P1 now, that BMW is rough.

Its nice to see that car doing something more then collecting dust. I just wish PitwrkzZ didn't leave me high and dry without notice:indiff:

you should try to drive it on hard tires. Took me A long time before I finally got a Mistake-free race.

Of all the tracks, in all the world, we had to race on this one!:ouch:

Hate this track with an absolute passion!

Of all the itterations of this track, this is without any shadow of a doubt the blindest, slippiest, most annoying, and the least rythmic version.

I HATE it!:grumpy:

Neil

The worst part about the track is there's no sector times, it's just one big-fast lap. I didn't know this when the schedule came out, and I'm working on a new schedule w/ some different tracks for next season. If anyone happens to have suggestions on where they'd like to see Petit Le Mans next season (No, not N-ring or Sarthe), please let me know.

:idea:If they're not on next seasons schedule already, how about...
  • Twin Ring Motegi - Road Course
  • Suzuka Circuit
  • Tokyo R246

I think Twin Ring Motegi would be good. its has a good rhythm, its not too technical, and its a fun track.

Personally, as long as this track isn't on the roster, I really don't mind that much and the previous suggestions are ok!

However, seeing as Le Sarthe and N-Ring are tabboo, I would really like to see Monaco (Cote D'Azur)!
We raced it in S2 of the JGTC, and it was a real blast! Totally commiting to all the corners on such a tight track is a real challenge, but it is very enjoyable and satisfying to complete a 45 minute race without a major collision.
Trust me! (If you don't, ask Drew!)

Anyway,

I still hate this track, but I am now getting to grips with the complete lack of brake markers, distance boards, visable apexes.......

Done the MacLaren race, and it's a 4 stopper with Bob doin 6 laps.

Chris, if you think that the Mac is a handfull on matched tyres, try it the way I have to run it!
One stop harder on the rears, ie RS/RM, RM/RH. It's the only way I can get the tyre wear to be even. I think it's coz my driving style is so gentle on the fronts, and the rears just wear at the rate that the car chews them up naturally.

Giving up racing for the night, as it's midnight.

But before I go I would like to thank Andy, for the wonderfull advent calender he e-mailed to me.
I quite liked it, and Anne is just greatful that she opened it, before forwarding it to my nieces! :sly:

Good one mate!

Neil

HaHa .. anyone who doesnt hate this track is either lying or sick ... its even too tight for my old KALI KART i used to race { RL } That said .. after 20 laps you do get into a groove . Ive only did one stint in LM1 and LM2 , though i did a total of 50 practise laps beforehand ( in a slower car ) . My phone line is still down im back in Sydney for 2 days and then off again for some more fishing .

New track suggestions for next season .. Tokyo 246 and Midfield .

:ouch: well, I won't be turning in a time this week
turns out that I've been racing the wrong track all week :dunce:
Shotgun should find some humor in that...considering...LOL
Don't have time to re-do the race, as I've got to be somewhere soon.
A double point race to boot
Sigh :grumpy:
So much for my 3rd place in the standings

Happy New Year !

oh yeah :(

LOL

I'm trying Chris, but it's been one problem after another the last few days, nothing has been going as planned and at the moment I don't have my PS2 hooked up, just the PS3 which won't support the DFP for PS2 games. So I'm gonna have to get the PS2 back out and setup so I can get a Banker run at least.

Another extension would be welcome to me as I'm sure it would be others. So many unplanned things come up during the holidays it's hard to find enough time to race.

And I guess my submission makes it 3 or 4. I second the motion for a submission deadline extension.

You have a very big heart,Chris.
O.K.,then I take the chance and I will race tomorrow. To be honest to you this date was too close to the New Year's Eve...for me at least.:dunce:
So J.R. is able to defend his 3rd overall place in the championship. He worked hard for it.

Thanks very much Chris!

Gotta admit I was completely distracted the last couple of days, I've had a rather nasty scare with getting chest pains and a racing heart!
Particularly when sat racing, and getting a bit tense!:nervous:

Couldn't get to the quack's till today, to find out it's a side-effect of some of the medication I am on for acid-reflux (heartburn at night), and have had the pills changed. Phew!

Thought I was getting angina or something worse!:scared:

The pain's going already, so will be able to race tomoz!👍

Neil

well, I guess this is a good chance to improve myself on the track. I'll send even better times.

Neil, you're getting old man! I can see you driving around Andy's Chevy soon. :)

Well, looking at JGTC, the overall activity on the board, and the fact that it's not going to affect the [shameless plug]Mazda Cup Spec Racing[/shameless plug] Jan 10th start date...So no problems there. And I want everyone to get a good chance to defend their positions. It's nice to see good competition, and i'm not a brutal, heartless dictator, no matter what you've heard. :)

Thanks Chris, I've completed my main mission of the last 3 days so know I can get some seat time.

Hey guys, I downloaded the GTHD Demo on the PS3..and are we in for fun when GT5 comes out.
The main problem though is that there's no Force Feedback so far which makes for a real light wheel and no feel for the road. But I'm sure they'll patch that eventually. The PS3 is many jumps beyond the PS2, it's a damn computer on it's own, surf the web if ya want. All times are automatically uploaded and you can see the top times and even view their replays with 1 push of a button....friggin amazin.
Obviously the graphics are awesome in HD. Good old Sony sells ya a HD console but no HDMI cables, just the same component cables as came with PS2, so there's another $100. I've read several places that Sony is losing 200 plus dollars for every PS3 they sell, guess they'll make it up on peripherals. Sony had a very bad year.

When it's time for you to get one, get the 60G if you're going wireless, the 20G won't work without buying additional hardware.

Anyway getting this rig set up has been totally consuming me for the last 3 days, but I've got GTHD so I'm a happy (yet much poorer) camper, just played it for the first time an hour ago, unlocked all 10 cars on first try, I'll go back tomorrow and see if I can get some times that register on the Scoreboard.

Drew, how many tracks are in the downloaded game that you have right now? I imagine they'll be adding more on in the future. Also, how many other cars do you race against?

CRAP!!! I just did both my races, which was all the time I had, then reread the rules and saw BOB was back...Flock!!!! Somehow I'll get them rerun before the double extended deadline....I don't deserve points this week, a weak performance!!

Times finally sent to Chris!

Muchos Grassy-arse for the extensions mate, I really needed them! 👍

So,
In the MacLaren I got a fastest 'in-race' lap of a pathetic x'xx.xxx, and had to run RM/RH all race! 4 pit-stops, and 6 laps for BOB!
In the RX-7, I got a fastest lap of x'xx.xxx, ran RM/RM for 10 laps, BOB then got 6, and then I did 2 stints of 7 laps each on RS/RS's.

Both times within 1.14 seconds of each other, with the RX-7 race being the fastest because of 1 less pit-stop.

Don't know how they stack up cos Drew's suffering from dementia this week, J.R.'s doubtfull on even racing and those two are who I share info with back-channel so I have no-one to compare my times with.

Ah well.:indiff:
Neil
