One thing to remember with the weight/power penelty system, guys!

The penelties only will apply to that particular driver, in that particular car!

i.e
D1 drives car A @ +0 power & +0 weight and finishes 4th!
D2 drives car A @ +0 power & +0 weight and finishes 1st!

D1 gains no weight and loses no power, but D2 gains 0 weight but loses 2% power for 3 sessions because he has won a round.

They both drive the same car, but they have different skill levels at that course! Maybe on all courses?
And so on, and so on....
BUT, over the course of the whole season the field will be equalised.

Do not think that, every driver of the car that D2 drives will suffer because D2 wins, only D2 will have the penalty.

This is a very similar system to what has been used in the JGTC series for the last two seasons, and it works!
The 3 session/race modifier system was introduced this last season and it made it work even better.

Chill out guys! It will all come out in the wash, I promise!

Neil,

No worries, seriously. Just using the forum as it should be used, for discussion.

Or, as William Hurt's character in The Big Chill said, "I'm just trying to keep the conversation lively!" :) 👍

and i do appreciate all the discussion that is being presented. I'm looking to run the best series on GTP (well, i will honestly say I can't touch JGTC, Eats runs the best series IMHO), and the more input I get, the better it will be for everyone.

PS, i'm EXTREMELY happy with the results so far. super-close qualifying should equal out to some exciting races. Results in a few minutes, and Race thread very very soon.

Ok Chris, I'm up and running now, playing through the PS3. You guys are gonna be pleasantly surprised when you go to playing GT4 on the PS3. The graphics are better as long as you use a HD TV, but more impressive is the Force Feedback. It's definately improved from the PS2 version, the wheel is heavier and the feedback is enhanced. My first test of it was the Mulsanne Straight, you know how much vibration and bounce you get with the PS2, well the PS3 is about 30% more, I was quite impressed. I'm gonna hold on to the PS2 until someone here like Chris or JR (in other words someone I've raced with for awhile that uses NTSB) breaks theirs and doesn't go to the PS3, I can send it to them. Sorry Neil, you're out of the loop on this one you lowly PAL user :)
I've read that Sony has sold only half the PS3's they expected to. They should market the Blue Ray disc player more cause a stand alone Blue Ray is about $1000.00, but you can get the PS3 with Blue Ray, a 60 gig hard drive and a game console for $600.00.

Question. Were you able to play GT4 on there with the most recent game save from when you were playing with it on the PS2? And if so,how? Can you use the PS2 Memory card on the PS3, or did you use a MaxDrive-like device?

But enough philosophising. Two specific points I'd like to address that Chris made in his response to C-H-A-R-G-E-R:

"If you're winning at -6% (+/- whatever the car is normally) then there's got to be something wrong with my original test settings, and the entire field may need an adjustment." This wouldn't be fair if there's someone running the same car in fifth place, now he's getting penalized for someone else's obviously stronger driving skill. The above statement seems to be mixing car performance adjustments and "Rewards Weight". If one car is clearly dominating, then yes, a correction needs to be made, but if it's one driver ...

"It's something new i'm trying for this season, and will hopefully keep more people in it, because we had a DRASTIC falloff at the end of S1." A very real problem, I'm sure, based on what I've read regarding other series. I'd be wary though, of the possibility of losing people who were winning, and then dropped out because they became disaffected by being regulated out of the possibility of winning, rather than someone getting disillusioned at the possibility of winning because their skills just weren't there yet. At least you can do something about the latter, and that's what racing is all about, getting better, no matter how fast you are.

1. Exactly! There's no need to remove power when there's someone who win races on that car while others are somewhere in the middle.

2. Some motivation can be lost when you know that there's no chances for the podium this round. But anyway this series had started yet so it's time to race now. There will be no changes there. So let's see how this sistem will work.

See ya at the first race of the season. New thread is ready. Good luck everyone and personaly to Chris! Thanks for the results appearing that fast. Nice times there. Third, first and second best times for me... Well thats not bad for the first time! 👍

PS: "Additionally, I'm going to TRY and simulate a gridded field, with all qualifiers on the same grid, color-coded by class. This has the potential of having a GT1 car out-qualify Prototypes, and even a GT3 (yes, GT3) in with GT1 if the driver's VERY good.
Also, a 0.5s per row time-addition will be assessed for each driver based on It starting position. Again, I am going to TRY this" (posted earlier by Chris)

Will you use this 0.5 sec gap?

The gridded field isn't going to work. I tried it in the pre-season, and it made a HUGE mess of things. Unfortunately, I've yet to find a good way to do this. I'll probably be experimenting, and maybe after Le Mans, but no promises
