It’s been great. I just want to thank everyone who’s participated in these polls, and most DEFINITELY thank you for your patience and input. But it’s come down to this. Fourteen engines. One prize.

GTPLANET’S FAVORITE ENGINE!!!

And, the nominees are…

  • 1&2 Cyl: Ducati V-Twins
  • 4 Cyl I: VW/Porsche Air-cooled B-4
  • 4 Cyl II: Mitsubishi/DSM 4G63T I-4
  • 6 Cyl: Porsche Air-cooled B-6
  • 8 Cyl: Chrysler 426 Hemi V-8
  • 10 Cyl: Chrysler “Viper” V-10
  • 12 Cyl I: BMW/McLaren S70/2, /3 V-12
  • 12 Cyl II: Mercedes-Benz AMG/Pagani 7.3L V-12
  • 14+ Cyl: VAG/Bugatti W-16
  • Odd# Cyl I: Volvo Modular I-5
  • Odd# Cyl II: Audi 2.1L "Quattro" I-5
  • Rotary: Mazda 13B Wankel Rotor-2
  • Second Chance I: Nissan RB-Family I-6
  • Second Chance II: Porsche Carrera GT V-10

YOU HAVE ONE WEEK TO VOTE. After that time, this poll will close, and a winner will be chosen.

Again, thank you for your patience, especially regarding Fours, Sixes, and Eights.

Oh, one more thing.

Go Hemi.

b13 here.

I shoulda been around for the previous polls. And how did the Mistu 4G get up there but no Toyota 3S? Toyota needs to be there, but too little too late or something.

4G got there because both it and the Porsche 4 beat the 3S in votes.

...Well, I went with the HEMI since I am a pig-headed American. I would have gone with anything that resembled a classic V8, as it was what I was raised on, and what made me the car fan I am today...

Plus, how many engines can you think of that were that completely outrageous? So much power, it is just silly. Added to that, the engine was fairly advanced for its time, and it should have been... They had been doing the HEMI design since the middle '50s.

One car always comes to mind, the HEMI 'Cuda. What a lovely car, one who's legend is defined more by its engine than the car itself.

4G63T Powah!!

Ok, it's mainly because I own one. That's the only reason I voted for it over the Elephant motor (426 Hemi).

my nomination is joint second!!! (i nomitaed it first but someone else also nominated it)

The voting proved to be a difficult decision, but in the end, I chose Nissan's legendary RB engine. Why?

Apart from the amazing RB26DETT's fixed to GTR's, not many engines can run up to 600hp+ on stock internals.

Awesome. This is really shaping up to be a tight battle...and you never know...we might have a suprise winner form no-where...

I really wanted to vote for the small block Chevy, but it never made it to the final round.

The Hemi is a good engine, but in original guise it really hasn't stood the test of time like the Chevy. The original heads it came with had serious valve train geometry issues. None of the the performance applications of the Hemi today use the original head design.

Then the only other option that resembles a American V8 is the Chrysler V10. Which really isn't old enough to warrant a best engine from me. If it was the LA small block I would happily vote for that over a Hemi. Really, a 360 can make a much nicer, lighter, more streetable engine than a Hemi.

Being a import fanatic... I'm going with the RB. Don't get me wrong, I love sound of a nice Hemi V8. But also being the tree hugging hippy I am, I hate gas guzzlers.. So RB for the win!

Damn. I'll have to agree with YSSMAN and go for the HEMI. Maybe because they make ~8000 horsepower and go 330 mph in 4.5 seconds? Maybe.

Just a reminder....

This poll closes at Noon Central Time Tomorrow. If you haven't voted, get yours in!!

sonnofa...

and how the hell is there not a chevy small block up there???? or a 502?? or....

what the hell??

surprised to see the Duc L-twin up there though! lol I would have voted for that since i own one now hehe.
