Hey Everyone,

I've searched and I can't find anything here on GTP using the search tool to answer my question/comment.

I tried doing this trophy this morning thinking "hey I'm a pretty good driver, and know Nurb quite well .. it's .... possible right?"

The fates answered with "Fat Chance" The closest I could get with a "near as makes no difference" clean run was 7:41 and change. How the 'eff do I shave 13 or so second off this using Sports:Hard tires?

Anyone have tips for me?

Cheers

If you're racing off Nurburgring, then shaving 13 seconds isn't that hard if you think about it. Because it's such a long long track, that just taking those sharp curves with a better angle or speed can shave a second off. You just need to run it again, really take notes on areas that you think "hmm, maybe I could do that a tad faster" and then keep trying to work on it. Also if you're using a Manual, then you might want to think about when, where and how you're shifting cause that can be a big way to lose or gain time.

i did it first try 7:54 (first GT game i have, and yes im still learning about the track) and i know im never gonna get the trophy..then i played around with various cars, come again with GT-R a week later, did not have any intention to get close to the time, and BAMMM!7:34!!things i learned in one week are
1) brake early, dont try to push through the corner unless u tried in slower speed and realize u can go faster, try to turn your car as fast as possible (faster in lower speed, hence brake early) to the racing line and full throttle halfway through the apex
2) stay in 3rd/4th gear (no matter AT or MT) through every corner unless 2nd gear in 1st and last corner (because GT-R's turbo car, shiftdown in middle speed range are not necessary unless it went below 3500rpm)
3) practice again and again :)

i got 7:27 with 2 minor mistakes (went off-track)
i learned all this by myself (a week is too long i guess),so i hope u can do it in near future..

i'm not a good driver,but i hope this helps.good luck,man 👍

I was looking at videos on YouTube and I find that in most of the videos people are using the understeer of the GT-R to their advantage, but it has to be timed perfectly not to mention held perfectly to get the right 'pop' out of the corner.

With stickier tires I don't have an issue, it's my loss of grip that I have to come to terms with. I guess try try try and .. well ... try.

I'm not excited to have to race this damned thing for 24 hours.... that's for sure.

Any more tips, gladly appreciated

Do the AMG Special events learn the track inside and out try to gold them and you will do it first time you try, i would imagine. The GT-R is much easier to handle imo and as such you stroll it or so it feels like anyway.

Turn all assists off except abs-1 and for a ds3 control sensitivity on 7 with these settings i got a 7.16 and keep calm, it does get easier with practice.

This..
The sensitivity is very important if you're using a DS3. I shaved at least 5 seconds off my time for a final result of 7:19, although I could have easily dropped that further. Turn all assists, like quad said OFF(Except for ABS to 1). They'll only slow you down.

Just keep trying, and you can make a few small mistakes while running it.

I did it as one of my first trophies and had the driver aids off, but TC on 2 and ABS on 1. If I were to try again, I would have TC off.

I used a wheel and manual transmission, but a friend of mine did it with a controller and automatic.

What they said. Also sports hard tires aren't bad on the stock GT-R but they make you slower than slicks and limit your braking. So you might even want to turn off ABS.

My best time with a stock GT-R sport hard tires for now is 7.30.004 and I did two small mistakes. Using DFGT, all assistanses off, ABS-5, Active steering - Strong.

I did it last week. It's actually very interesting how fast that record is considering it the reallife lap record. You have to keep it tight to beat that time.
Respect to the driver who accomplished that!

I just wanted to bang on about my trophy winning time

7:26.952, DS3, TCS set to 1 (which turns out to be what's been holding me back), active steer off

And that was with a bit of a tank slapper early in the lap, which might've cost me over a second.

Without traction control, the car stays in it's power band whilst drifting through some of the twistier sections and I reckon I gained almost 1 sec by being less optimistic over braking points for the final series of corners.

I think I might have a 7:25 in me somewhere.

For me, it was a question of getting used to the sliding and using it.
Dunno about SRF - I tried it for a bit and couldn't get it to work for me, but maybe that's my driving style. I found it controlled the slide by throttling back and then you just drop out of the sweet spot.

i beat it with SRF=on and ABS-10

after many attempts with ABS 1 i failed by 7 sec. after turning to ABS-10 it took 2 trys

Keep at it man. With the GTR really got to whoa it down going into corners then get on the throttle early. This car loves to understeer if driven into corners too hard, but the 4wd is great from the apex on.

This

I got 7.41 first try then 7.31 with a DS3. Still waiting on the record though. The AMG School is great fun and makes Nurnberg 'yours'.

This has to be down to driving style. I found a lot of people were praising SRF and I hated it on the K car Seasonal. Tried it once ages ago for the 'OR' trophy and got nowhere with it.

I was failing by 6-7 sec with ABS and/or tracton control set high.

I did it on my third lap
1st - 7.52
2nd - 7.41
3rd - 7.28 just getting under the number
DS3 - dpad - All aids off (ABS-1)
Ghost car from previous lap helped me to see where i could do better. I probably could still improve on that number.

I did this just a few days ago, running no aids and ABS at 1 I managed a 7:24.1. I could drop it down by maybe a second or two, but it got me the trophy.

Nailed this with TC off in the end - 7:26 with a big error probably costing me a sec and a half.

The GTR loves to slide, so I say let it.

Just try to be tidy in the corner entry and be on the gas early to use the four wheel drive to pull you out from the corner with max velocity. Nice car even though it's a bit boring. :)
