It is weird I brought this up, but what do you think Polyphony Digital will do for a 10th Anniversary celebration?

A franchise was in the making as a group of creators at Polyphony Digital would come up with a game that would be a big step in racing games since Pole Position, RC Pro Am, and Ridge Racer. The project was known as "Gran Turismo." And normally, I kind of hate when people say this, but, when PD thought their baby franchise wasn't going to sell, look at the reaction millions of devoted PS1 owners gave to PD over GT? Selling units worldwide, the series only got better and better. More cars, more tracks, rally racing, and now what started from the mid-late 1990s to sometime in the mid-late 2000s.

What do you think PD will do to celebrate 10 years of GT?

There are a few guesses I have:

(A) The 10th Anniversary of GT will be celebrated with the coming of the PS3 and GT5.

(B) The 10th Anniversary of GT will be celebrated with the coming of the PS3 and GT5, and will offer a bonus disk cram packing GTs 1, 2, and MAYBE 3 as well.

(C) PD will celebrate with a 10th Anniversary DVD-ROM containing the original GT with revamped graphics.

(D) PD will offer an interactive DVD showing some of the best and worst moments in development of the Gran Turismo Series

(E) None of the above

Or what do you think will happen once the 10th Anniversary rolls around? For example, The "Virtua Fighter" series celebrated with a 10th Anniversary version included in "VF4: Evolution," and you could play an old-school looking game of Virtua Fighter 4 with a little rendering. What could happen?

E, but only because I think they have their hands full right now with GT4, GT5 and this bike game we've been hearing about.

they might add a PD 10th anniversary (modified skyline or something?) car in GT5

My guess would be a GT4 prologue style game previewing GT5 on PS3 with some GT classics like a few skylines, a lancer or two, a couple of hondas, a Corvette Grand Sport, etc with a few GT classic tracks Grand Valley, Deep Forest, Autumn Ring etc

Maybe even the Nürburgring

Who knows....

I can imagine all these little japanese engineers with suits, ties and purple party hats on!:p

If it's a preview of GT5 it would mean GT5 won't be here until 2007. I doubt PD will make a whole new game for it, although it's by no means out of the question. It won't be a GT5 preview, that should be with us in 2006, PS3 dev kit's were haded out to developers a good few months back.

Although PD started working on the first Gran Turismo game in 1997, it wasn't released until May 1998, so technically, 2008 would be the 10th anniversary of the GT series, which is four years away. I think they will make game packs that have every GT game in it. If there will be a GT5, it would be out by 2008, so the game pack would have all five GT games in it. I wouldn't buy it, since I have bought every GT game, though.

In the 10th anniversary edition of GT, they will have a Milk Truck in the game.

Whatever they do the product will be released about 12 years after the launch of GT1.

Go PD! 👍

I think they should make something really big for the 10th anniversary. Of course you don't really see anything big for other gaming Icons like Link, Mario, Donkey Kong, or Sonic.

I don't think they'll make a big deal about it. Maybe they'll give you a cheap mail in rebate on a 10 year anniversary T-Shirt or Baseball cap, who knows??

They're probably add another fifty or so Evos and Skylines. Maybe make a release of GT that is just Evos and Skylines.

I think for the 10th anniversery they will be releasing GT4 the way things are going.

I guess when I thought of a special-edition of GT1, I was thinking of all-stars from all the previous GTs. So the all-star list would be like this (to name a few):

REPRESENTING GT1:
Toyota Castrol Supra GT
Toyota Chaser LM
Mitsubishi GTO MR of 1995
Corvette Sting Ray of the 1960s
Kunimitsu NSX-R GT2

REPRESENTING GT2:
Toyota GT-One (Road car and 1999 model)
Jaguar XJ220
Mini Cooper race car
Subaru Impreza Rally Car
Vector M12
Volkswagen New Beetle GT
Opel Tigra and Tigra Ice Racing Car
Lister Storm
Ford GT40 Race car and street car
Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak

REPRESENTING GT3:
Tickford Australian V8 Race Car
C-west Silvia
Pagani Zonda Race Car
Dodge Viper GTS-R Team Oreca
Corvette C5-R
Raybrig NSX
Pennzoil Skyline (because it's the most powerful of them)

And we'll have to wait and see who the GT4 all-stars would be. The special edition GT would be like Gran Turismo Concept, only that you can endurance race and all (I do not have GTC, I'm going based on what I have seen and heard about it).
